A couple questions here:

1) What stand do you use on your cyclone? I'm looking at http://t-rex-racing.com/catalog.php?item=11&ret=in dex.php but notice they don't offer a spool for my bike, if I even need it. What stands do you guys use?

2) For winterization can I just put stabil in the gas tank, shot off the pet and then run it till the carb is empty? What do you guys recommend. This is my first year owning a street bike.

3) For the winter is it a good idea to store it on stands. I read about flat spots but dont know if this is a common problem.

Thanks guys.

I dont have a stand myself. Ive been putting stabil in and running the carb dry and disconnect the battery. I store it in my dads unheated shed. It gets quite cold here in MA in the winters. This winter I plan on taking the battery out of the bike and keeping it in my closet this year with a battery tender on it. I havent heard of any issues with tires. Ive being doing the same rutine since I got the bike in 01. No issues with my tires. Im curious what other people have to say though.

That's because your bike doesn't have spools.

You just need a standard under the swingarm stand. Pretty much universal.

I drilled and tapped my swingarm to use spools (6mm Yamaha spools since I had the correct tap). I have a Vortex stand which is convertible for standard and spooled. I used it in the standard configuration before I added the spools.

Thats not a bad Idea. I might get some spools this winter and drill n' tap the swing arm!!!

I need a few good winter projects.

You can kind of see them in my profile picture. I recommend putting them right where I did. The center of the hole drilled for them is about 1/2 - 3/4 inch forward of the machined area for the axle block, and 1/2 - 3/4 inch above the bottom of the swingarm. The result should be that the back of the spool is even with the machined area, and the bottom is even with the bottom of the swingarm.

Very solid. 2 years and no problems. Since I don't have a kickstand on this bike, it is on and off the rear stand probably about a thousand or so times by now. I also have it on the rear stand as I am strapping down the front end for transport. Trust me, this is solid.

Use a new bit, and drill straight.

I store mine on stands without weight on the tires just for peace of mind. I've never used stabil, but I do start it at least once a month and let it warm up. I also keep a tender on the battery.

Course I have a FI X1 so a carbed M2 may act differently to only occasional starts and no stabil.
