So i just came from the dealer and some kid could not afford to pay the bill to have his motor fixed, So the dealer bought if from him for $2500 and now are trying to sell it for $5,149. It is a 99 x1 blue race stripe. Still has the factory recall shock on it!

They're probably trying to recoup their cost. You and I both know, depending on what was wrong with the motor, after getting parts and paying $65+ an hour to install them and $2500 for the bike they probably have that much in it. All I can say is good luck with that. If I could get 1/4 of what I have in mine back out of it I'd be doing good. You know the old saying; crap in one hand and wish in the other and see which one fills up first.

$65 is cheap. The local HD shop here charges $100/hr

I'd rather break stuff on my own at the house .. for $0/hr

I'd rather just not break stuff period.

I just came out of the garage after removing exhaust, inner air box and rocker box trying to get to the front head to replace both valves.

That's nothiun. The local dealer in lawrence was asking $6000 about two months ago for a used 2000 X1 in white with blue frame. Looks nice and has had all the upgrades, but NO WAY!

The HD-only dealer here has an '08 12R with 300 miles.. Said they'd take my X1 as a trade in but I think they got upset when I asked how much cash I'd get in addition to trading for the 'bolt : p

My local dealer has a retired riders edge blast for sale.
It's in TERRIBLE shape.
Everything is bent.
peg mounts, headlight brackets... you know.
nothing lines up.

I asked them how much, thinking it would be a good project.

$2700.

American dollars.

WTF!

I know those guys so I was just barely able to avoid saying to choke on my genitals.

I was getting some more parts at the dealer and really had a good look at that X1. It is not well maintained at all! As i looked it over and saw all the stock factory parts i started having flash backs of bike trouble because of these factory parts! As i was leaving i spotted a black X1 down at the bottom of the parking lot.....So i went down to look at it and it was just beat up and terrible. It was an employees bike and he had drilled into the tail section and jimmy rigged some ghetto a$$ back rest on it. The whole thing was spray painted flat black and a awful job at that. I had to walk away after i saw that gem of bike!

some people go for the mad max look.

There's a set of S3T bags on eBay right now that someone covered in a truck bed liner looking material.

I'm not into that sort of thing, but hey - to each his own.

have you seen the for sale section here?

i paid 800 bucks and traded a pistol for mine. had to put an ignition and fuel pump in it to get it running right.

Yeah, that is Chris's bike, he tried to sell it here prior to getting married or something. It is "well used". At least that dealer is employing a Buell rider... I haven't been in to test his knowledge recently, nice guy though.

My dealer charges $70/hour which I thought was fairly reasonable compared to how much the Porsche guys charge...
