Anyone running a replacement LED taillight that also includes rear signal lights? I see some on fleabay for about $74 and wondering if anyone has used them or similar. I would like to clean up the tail section on my bike.

Thanks for any info and pictures you can provide.

I have one and it is great. I kept the stock ones for extra visibility but you can use without, I did in testing.

I have a great LED tail light with integrated turn signals. I bought it from a company called Heavy Cycles. Some dude in California and it was a little over $200. It is super bright and has worked great for the last 4 years. I did keep some very small marker lights on my M2 just for extra turn signal visibility.

My light is extremely bright and the guy also added in white lights on the bottom for the license plate to remain visible.

The one I've got looks the same as Dreadnaught's, $55 on the bay. It came with the smoked lens, dunno if it's interchangeable, and yes it looks badass with the CF undertail. I believe you can find just the smoked lens at 1tail.com

Koz,

Any contact info for Heavy Cycles? I've been googling around and decided that taillight is SICK...

I found one here (Don't forget the Duc Monster's taillight is the same!)

http://ducatishopping.com/store/index.php?act=view Prod&productId=243

I found the facebook page but I can't get on the site (only on google's cached pages but I can't browse it).

No,I got it from a website that sold Buell/Ducati lighting. I cannot remember where. I would guess it is interchangeable with a red lens but the yellow turn signals would not come out right. It has worked flawlessly and is bright. I bet they are all made in the same places (China) so I would be wary on spending $200 even if it was made by Hella or other sources. Mine is over a years old and is flawless.

* * The undertail is the most expensive individual piece on the bike. It was the only splurge I did. Everthing elso was cheap in comparison but it is the one piece everyone comments on. I feel it is worth it. The production date was 2006, so it sat in the warehouse until mid 2008, I wonder how long they will be made if it sat on a shelf that long.

Um, the $200+ one is made here in the states.

It uses brighter LED's then the cheap one of yours (I have the clear version, and it's a piece of shitt). I went through two of them, and now need a third.

Both ha dthe plate LED's (white one's), that flickered until the board probably cracked all the way through and stopped working. It isn't very bright (the one Koz has I believe is extremely bright), which denotes much more expensive LED's.
Research the prices of the best and brightest LED's and you'll see a major difference in price (we're talking like $15 per little bulb in some cases!).

So, it's not the same. =)

This is where I got the one for my S1W. Looks good but you need to find a good place to put the resistors to slow down the turn signals.

Orman, all you need is this:

Which replaces the stocker and allows it to flash correctly. And it doesn't mess with the fronts if they are standards.

And look at the pic here:

Pretty much the same as the HeavyCycles design, and nothing like the one you have Dread.

I stand corrected but mine are bright and can be seen in the brightest sunlight. At night you can't miss them and I hope someone does'nt. I paid about $80 I am trying to find the link in my hundred of Motorcycle links. I have been very happy, I noticed that American Sport Bike light is not DOT legal, Who cares, I guess mine is not either..

No integrated tail lights are DOT approved IIRC.

They aren't Integrated Tail Lights for motorcycles?

It's not the LED aspect, it's the fact of the tail light and turn signals all in one tiny place is my guess.

LED's have nothing to do with it, LOL

HID's are legal if they are installed from the manufacturer that way...(I have some in my car, installed by me, and haven't had a single issue).

The integrated stop/signals are not legal as far as I know. Issue is that turn signals must be a minimum set distance apart. I used to recall the statute. I'm running the Clear Alternatives light and it's held together these past three years even with all the vibes in the tail section. Only issue I have had is that the CA unit plugs into the stock bulb socket. The CA adapter piece kept coming loose and so I taped it down. No issues since.

Safe fide,

It's the federal statute covered under FMVSS-108 which is also sometimes enforced by the states as MVSS-108. Mandates the performance, size and location for signals, reflectors and such. Ever wonder why some of the really expensive custom choppers have those bulky ugly turn signals on them? Manufacturers had to comply to get them registered. Just another item you can be pulled over on if the PO is having a bad day...

Safe ride,
