I have recently acquired an X1 from my brother. He had been rear ended while at a stop. The swingarm has popped out of the subframe. One half of the case has a chunk missing along the seam. The rear wheel is slightly bent.

Other than that I am looking at a tire, some new grips and turn signals.

Is it worth it to have the motor gone through. Any resources around Southern California would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

I would take it apart and sell the parts.
The rear suspension+swingarm depends upon the engine case.
You could have someone weld the cases but it will never be as strong as it once was.
In a sportster frame, perhaps that engine can live on but as a stressed member of the chassis, I wouldn't think it would be a good idea.

You will need new cases. I had the same thing happen. Rearended by a drunk drive in the early 90's. I went with S&S cases.

If the swingarm and mount got knocked out then the frame may be bent.

If you post pictures of the damage I am sure someone here can give a better assessment.

1997 S1. I sold the bike and it was stolen from the new owner a few months later.
