Hey guys, just joined on the advice of a buddy, great site.
I just bought a 2000 X1 Lightning Racing Stripe and it has the Race ECM and also the Power Commander. I have read poor reviews on the PW and have noticed it seems to miss a little over 3K rpm's at times. The original owner gave me all of the OEM stuff with the bike. How do I go about removing the PW to test how it runs?
thanks

Nathan

Unplug at the injectors,o2 sensor and the battery, hook up original injector,o2 sensor connections and deposit PC in file 13.

In theory you do not need to reset the TPS...assuming it was properly zeroed out previously. Many do not understand what is happening with the TPS reset- ALL you are doing is re-teaching the ECM where the zero point it on the throttle, then bringing the idle up to where it should be. Removing the PC should not affect that.

That said, for proper running, I would find someone with ECMSpy, reset the TPS and reset the AFV to 100% and ride ride ride.

Yep. PC ONLY adjusts fuel. it sits inline with the OEM injector harness and adjusts the pulsewidth. TPS is not affected.

disco? what do you mean by that?

race ecm and vance and hines is a good combo.

once you reset the AFV, take it out and ride it, keeping it above 3500 rpm for 10 minutes straight, that will cause the the ecm to relearn the new AFV.

ok need some help. in the middle of taking it out and i have half of the bike torn apart. i have traced the wires to the injectors, o2 sensor, and a green wire. i have disconnected the injectors and put the stock connectors back on. now i am on the o2 sensor and green wire. i do not know where to plug them back into? after i disco'd the PC, i can't find where to plug the stock stuff into? also there was a grey wire that appeared to be tapped into a connector that i believe is the tps. i cut it off?

Jramsey has it right- just go to your local autoparts store and ask for a Bosch 12014 or equivalent...much cheaper than the Buell one.

Here's a link for ya, some good reading:

Unhooking the tps at the wiring connection not a problem, removal of tps from throttle body itself requires a reset.

well just got done with the removal. new 02 sensor and plug wires. thinking maybe i should change the plugs?
anyway, took it for a spin and it seems to run pretty good, maybe just a bit less power. i had no issues with PC but didn't want to run into issues with diagnosing problems in the future. less electronics, less to go wrong. still has plenty of power for me!
thanks so much for the advice and help, i love a forum with so much tech and no drama.
