99 Lightning with a 16.5" Showa. The shock seems to be seeping at the front. The old shock, (this is a used replacement) was pissing oil out the rear so I replaced it. (obviously!) The ride and handling are fine right now but am I heading for trouble?

Did your bike have the recall done on it? The dealer has to replace the shock with the upgrade free of charge. No time limit on the recall just had mine done a few weeks ago. Check your vin on the Harley site or go to a dealership and they'll check it. I think the 1999's are covered.

Don't ride with it if it gets any worse. If its not covered try ebay there should be a a shock up for bid last I checked.

Save your money and buy a real shock! My shock went out the same way then it got spongy and tried to kill me. It is in destruct mode be careful!!! I wouldn't put on stock unless you weigh 175 or less or you want it stock or you have no money!

Whatever PB1, we can't ALL have those cool looking, great handling, sexy exposed spring pieces of beauty, errrr, filth that you have hiding so elusively under your motorcycle!!!!!

do I sound at all jealous? 'Cause I'm not, really, I'm not.........

Yeah, so IF it's not acting funny it prolly will be before too long, clean it up real good and see what happens, then save up. Works might have a discount store on a popular auction website that I fear to mention because I like Al at American Sport Bike so much, don't want him getting undercut by the manufacturer, sigh, but there it is.

Good luck.

So you are saying that the dealer will replace the "recall" shock if it leaks through the life of the bike? That's good to know. Mine is only a year old.}
