Oh, in the HD mechanics defense, they get paid to bolt on GENUINE HARLEY DAVIDSON CHROME ACCESSORIES, not fix Buells correctly

LOL that's good, He was trying to tell me the rocker boxes not breathing right blew the seal. I had to explain what i did and there are no umbrella valves anymore, That whole section is completely removed and the PCV valves are one way only. There is no way that they took out the seal!} I think it was just time for it to go out. The bike had many different oil brands run through the motor and i wonder what they could have done to the seal.....The biggest factor i think is the age of the seal.

Waiting on parts from Al @ American Sport Bike
THANKS FOR THE FREE SHIPPING AL!!!!

Git rid of the "CRAP" UMBRELLA VALVES and go to XB rocker arm covers with BLAST PVC VALVES(BLAST HAD THEM FIRST) or do as "i" did when the BLAST came out, just put BLAST PVC VALVES in my OEM 1997 ROCKER ARM COVERS ...

Running your PRIMARY CHAIN "TOO TIGHT" does not help the "SEAL" either !!!

UPDATE: Ok the beast is back together and the Tranny vent pressure is gone!! (This is a big clue to tell if the seal went out, Just plug the hose and if you have pressure it's blown) I got a new battery also. The bike is 90% finished and just needs the brakes addressed now.

apparantly the '01 or '02 X1 had revised breather routings to prevent plugging as compared to the '99-'00 bikes. Anyone with a stock '01-'02 wanna take pictures of how their transmission vent is routed?

As far as I have been able to figure out, it's routed differently around the brake line, and possibly attached to the left side of the frame(I take this to mean left side as if I were seated on thr bike) as opposed to under the seat

My X1 tranny has puked oil only two times in 35,000 miles. On the same road. A 2 mile mountain downgrade at about 60 MPH. The vent is in the top of the primary. How does oil get to the top and out the tube? Is it slung off the chain? Does engine braking cause more back pressure to push the oil out the tube?

On the later EVO Sportster engine's case's the transmission vent was moved a little higher ...

"BUT", if the transmission is over filled and the motor sprocket oil seal has started to go bad you can still get oil out the breather ... This is not really a breather, BUT a VENT to allow pressure to equalize ...

ANY HOSE COMING OUT OF THE ENGINE SHOULD BE RUN TO A "CATCH CONTAINER"(on a CARB. engine, even the float bowl vent tube) !!!
