any suggestions for either one of these?? are there better ones and/or worse ones for either, getting ready to put my new cheap shock on and have a few other things that need to get done.

You'll be ok with either the updated HD gasket set or the cometic, as both are not paper and are one piece for the lower rockerbox part. American Sport Bike should have everything you need, including the fork parts.

+1 for new HD or Cometic gaskets.

While you're changing the gaskets, consider upgrading to XB rocker covers. You can eliminate the need for one gasket all together with the XB design, and your bike will puke less through the breathers.

If you're into the polished look American Sport Bike sells an XB rocker cover kit with everything you need, or you can find them elsewhere with a rough finish for a little less $$

I got mine for $50, but they need to be cleaned. I'm gonna polish them myself. I have Cometic gaskets for them. IIRC the gaskets were $40.

I used the Harley gaskets. So far so good no leaks front or back. $50 for the gasket kit with everything you need. Got it from the dealer no problem.
