Hey Gavin....
Ok....Heres my story..
I saw the RS1200 on Craigs list in BC , Canada , spring 2008...
I ended up buying it for $5000 cdn...
I had a friend coming this way with a truck....1200 miles
I gave him $250.00 for delivery to me...
I was told the bike ran, but had bin mostly sitting for a few years...
The fellow did ride it a few miles to my sisters place to drop it off and get the $$$
My friend picked it up 2 weeks later and brought it to me...
The bike was cosmetically pretty good....
it had 10,300 miles...
I did run it a bit, and decided to do a total tear down....
I took it down to the bare frame, and cleaned, fixed and touched things up...
The bike had a history of being invloved with the Hells angels as it had a support decal on it...
Anyhow, the engine
It had std heads, cams, and dome pistons.
I removed and relpaced with HD NOS heads,cams,pistons,S/e ignition module, seals, rings, gaskets, sprocket, clutch bearing, adj.pushrods
I coated the fuel tank, touched up the frame, replaced all brake pads, cleaned calipers inside and out,new chain, primary shoe, fork, seals, rear shock,
reapired any wiring, repaired factory corbin seat, polished header, added a spout to muffler, replaced many bolts with SS allen heads, aquired papers from Buell and info from Mt vernon illinos dealership, battery, grips and levers, mirrors, cleaned and reassembled wheels, chain guard and chain shoe with a new spare, manuals, touch up paint, body screws,etc....
I had $7200 invested, sold it to orest for $7800 shipped to him on an HD crate by truck
How did he ship it to you?
Buell supplied me with the build sheet and dates etc....Did Orest give this all to you?
Tom Anglim from Buell supplied parts etc...
Court and BWB was very helpfull..
I actually always wanted a 1991 or 1992 5 speed, but this bike came up and i had to save it...
I have had over 350 HDs and alot of Buells...
Upon split with my ex I had
1-1990 RS1200
1-1996 S2T
1-1999S3
1-2000 S3T
1-2003 Xb9r
1-20002 FLHTC
I remain with my home, my 2002 FLHTC and my beloved 1996 S2t and im Happy Bro...
ive got a new babe on the go who is a nurse, and has as normal of a head as a woman can have....LOL....
When I redo bikes, I get very anal with detail, and Im sure orest never did the RS no harm....
Please send me a photo of it with your collection....
Long Live # 59 of 95 1990 RS1200 Buells!
Anything else I can tell Ya?
