>>>I've been at a multi-line dealership for a year...this legendary "japper" reliability is a bit mythical.

Absolutely.

Manufacturers maintain damn good measurements of reliability.

If you are replacing a Buell, in this day, with a Japanese bike you are doing it for your own entertainment.

My riding partner has 9 bikes, all Japanese, except for his KTM Duke, and I see the hell he goes through getting parts and with recalls.

Court,

Where did I say I was replacing the Buell, I would simply want one to be able to keep up with my bud's on our little runs around the straights of Indiana.

Running 125 with my motor screaming isn't going to happen anymore. It can't handle it, haha. At least not for extended periods of time I don't trust it.

So, back to the thread, this isn't the place for this talk. Moving on, again.

Most of my spare parts are attached to spare bikes, but there's some stuff that hangs out on the wall or in boxes..

Back on topic, I'll get some pics out soon. I'm thinking I'll wait until the engine that Wilson gave me a line on shows up.
It's good when Wilson has your number available....

Its a brembo rotor. I know it fits the x1 wheel hub but have never owned an s2 - is the s2 hub the same as other tubers? It is smaller diameter than the stock rotor though so I wanna get one of the brackets to relocate the caliper before I use that rotor.

And the s3 rebuild is waiting until I'm debt-free. Possibly waiting until after I get a better car too.

Ladies just don't dig the sideswiped 87 civic hatchback look.

That brembo rotor is for a Harley. Harleys have the same bolt patterns as the buells, but the rotors are 1.5" smaller.

Is the plan to feed that frame dog chow until it grows up to be a big bad buell?

Nah the dog chow is for the pit buell, err.. bull*

I'm slowly collecting parts for the S3, but nothing major until I achieve financial stability. My X1 project was a lot of fun but the S3 needs to be a little more frugal.

I wouldn't want all that weight on the front of mine. That's why I'm converting to this (matching wheels too):

I'll have to take some pics tonight, nowhere near as much as above, but a few bits and pieces : )

PK - the pic of the handlebars, are they standard X1 bars?

Edit- just looked through the original post, I am such an amateur! ; ) I don't feel anywhere near as bad now about having a few boxes of bits and holding on to the original airbox etc

Lemon - those bars are S3T bars. I'm trying to be financially responsible and wait to buy most of the S3 project parts but I got a good deal on those and napolean bar ends were included so I couldn't pass them up!
