there is yellow marker on one side of my gaskets does it go up or down?

If it doesn't specify in your directions I think the rule is the mark goes up. Anyone else? I am basing this on past experience and what I have read and most recently my piston rings stated that the mark on the rings went up. If there was no mark what-so-ever it didn't matter.

thanks also anybody got tips on removing the old gasket from the cylinder, a razor blade is digging in more then i like

I sprayed aerosol gasket remover on the base gasket I recently removed. It softens the surface of the gasket a bit, but not enough to do a one step removal. Wear rubber gloves and just keep at it. No easy chore.
