I had no idea that i could get this kind of gas mileage on a bigger cc motor. I was not cruising the bike either, I was driving it aggressively through the mountains.

It will probably even get better as the engine gets broken in...
How much below the "lip" do you fill the tank? Using your index finger as the "dip stick", how much of the finger gets "wet" after fill-up? Just wondering.

Dude, you've fallen for the old "hey my VW Bug gets 70 mpg" trick.

3 months later you complain that now it only gets 10 mpg and go to the dealer to complain who looks at you sideways like you're a hippie with a credit card.

The trick? Someone is refilling your fuel tank while you're asleep. 3 months from now they'll come back in and start siphoning it out. Just you wait... it's a gasoline elf!

I fill the tank to within 1" of the rubber neck line. The FSM calls for this 1" space for the fuel pump to operate correctly. The bike used to set the light off at exactly 126 miles and now im getting 180 before the light comes on!

my X1 gets awesome economy.
even all loosened up with a bazillion miles, it gets over 50 pretty much all the time.
I fill my tank til the fuel touches the bottom of the rubber skirt thingy.
however, my fuel light hasn't worked right since 8000 miles.

I am sure the gas mileage will depend significantly on a number of factors like driving style, road conditions, tires, and last but not least engine condition. Engine condition by itself depends on a whole lot of factors like air/fuel ratio, exhaust, seals, spark plugs, etc., etc., etc. All in all, in my opinion, its an apples to oranges comparison. Bottom line, fuel economy is really not an important factor... Th fun factor is what counts...Just my 2 cents.
