While looking through an old Jireh Cycles catalog I found a couple of isolators that match up with our Tuber isolators (I think).

First one is an Eight Balls unit which references the old -79B part number. The other one is a Velva Ride unit and doesn't refer to any part number. Both are urethane units of supposedly different make up. No idea why the Eight Balls iso is around $25 and the Velva (kit) is triple that price at around $75. There is a reference to post 1980 FLT and FXR big twins. Wish there was a way to road test all of these alternate isolators.

Safe ride,

Garry:
Al Tested the velva ride and found it unsatisfactory, I suspect that the same may be true of the ohter urethane isolator,

the OE and DS units are either natural rubber or neoprene.

Good to know. That Eight Balls isolator is marked on the pricing page as an Ultima item so I'm not sure where they are made. Same company that supplies the monster sized BT for Jireh.

Ultima has some good stuff at good prices. I agree that I wouldn't use that iso on a Buell since the buell hangs on the iso, but I bet it'd work good in an FXR. We put a 5* raked 2" over Ultima 58mm inverted wideglide front end on my Dad's '93 FXD and love it. They also have programmable ignitions made by Dynatec that can be found cheap.

Don't use the Velva item on a Buell.
It does this:

Leftcoastal:

Informative picture. Guess all replacements for the -79B/C/D aren't the same. Clearly some are designed for the type of usage on the FLT and FXR models only. May take a while for someone to come up with a Buell specific replacement.

This was maybe 2000 - 2500 miles on a somewhat gently ridden bike (it does have a turbo, afterall) - no wheelies, no hard abuse. My friend Skeeter Todd built the bike and I got it from him with about 11,000 miles on the clock. He didn't ride it much after the build, and I'm sure he was the installer of the Velva Ride unit as they were avail. from Biker's Choice where he was employed at that time.

You can see the bike on my profile.
Also in the classified section.

I notice an indentation to the upper inside edge of the metal piece. We've discussed how the vertical bolt isn't perpendicular to the head mounting boss surface. It's really obvious with my NRHS mount. Have to wonder if this slight change in the degree of the bolt through the isolator is part of the problem. The metal sleeve surely was making some contact.
