Got a ticket on my RS last night. Can't wait until I'm riding this:
60ft-lbs 2000RPM-redline

What do you have done to the motor?

Hmmmmm....
Need to look around the sight for standard Thunderstorm torque...
As far as HP goes I know I'll never be close!

Now that the RS is costing you money I'll take it off your hands. Looks like I've got $12 in my wallet. Now if I can just come up with a few zeros....

here's my race kitted S1WL:
S1Dyno

The FJR has more torque at every point except the dip around 4200-5000RPM. If I put similar mods (mufflers, power commander) that will smooth out.

RS news - a squeeking sound I thought was the front fender rubbing has been diagnosed as a possible cam bearing. Sheesh.
On the up side, it's really running and riding great. The 97S3 carb has really smoothed it out.

Thanks for the visual.
I'm afraid I'm a 1-bike-at-a-time guy for now. I've wanted a Buell ever since I saw an RS in Enthusiast mag in the late 80's. From your pic you've got one of the nicer ones that I've seen (not that many, but still....). My S3T is going to have to carry the dream for now. Depending on whether or not I get the kinks worked out of it and whether or not Buell does another "T", a used FJR may be the next bike that lets me ride in the real world. (It doesn't hurt that I also wanted an FJ1100 in the early 90's.)

I'm afraid that I do not understand what you mean by a 1-bike-at-a-tme guy. I'm very confused!!!

8 was as bad (good? obsessive??) as it ever got around here. It just felt crowded.

Easy Rider, how come you want to replace your S3T with an FJR1300? Is it the power and comfort advantage on the super-slab you're after? I'm just curious about the type of riding you prefer to do. An FJR is one awful lot more motorcycle to finesse down your favourite gnarled road....

An FJR is about 80lbs more motorcycle to finese. No USD forks, no single front brake and you could go years without actually seeing the motor.

They make about as many FJRs as they did S3Ts and they cost about the same.

You can have ABS if you want it.

I'll post an S3T/FJR review after I get mine (I had 45,000mi on the 99 S3T I sold in March).

What's your delivery due date?
Haven't seen one locally yet, maybe I'll do a YamaLap today and see if any local shops have info.

No specific date, I expect it in a few weeks.
V2WIN here in StL found one on a dealer floor in Indiana a couple weeks ago and I have seen his in person.

80lbs?

An S3T weighs 465, FJR's are 600+.

My buddy with the FJR won't even TRY to run backroads with Buells.

Totally different animal.

Buell said the S3T was ~480dry. Magazines reported about 520 "wet".

The FJR is supposedly 520 dry and yeah about 600 wet.

Looks like about 80lbs to me.

I'll let you know if I have any issues, but I doubt it.

Lornce,
A big part of my riding is back and forth to work. I'm tired of bungee-ing and stuffing things in my jacket, hate the looks of a tank bag, and feel like carrying a backpack would just give me a sweaty back and making sure that one was always where I was would be a hassle. The short version of that is I gotta have bags. The S3T looks good with them on and isn't a barge. I could live with less power, and the comfort is just fine except my butt gets a little sore after a couple hours. I may just need to soften up the rear end.
The Yamaha has a better looking nose and let's face it, it's more reliable. I haven't had a chance to sit on one to see how it feels. I'm not going to be a track day rider, don't get very gnarly when I do go on a social ride, so how I feel with it matters most. Notice there's an "if Buell doesn't do another T" in there as well. I waited years to get a Buell. Wrecked it. Finally got another. Buell's got a couple years to get one. Unfortunately I'm not only handicapped by only having one bike but I also have a hard time justifying a new one! I hope they get on the stick!

Love to get mine back on the road. No date on when it can get looked at. I did order an extra choke cable and I need to order the throttle cables from an HD dealer.

My good friend Crazy Carl showed up at Dirty's tonight on this!

RS1200/5

RS1200/5

With this plus his S2-T, his S2, his Blast! and his M2 (police parade model), I think he may be gunning for Aaron and BuellieDan!
