Update:
Guys, end of Day 2 of my Cape Breton trip. For any familiar with Nova Scotia we just finished the Cabbot Trail. What a ride! The failed ISO is a fly in the soup but the Soup is soo sweet!. The vibes are making my hands and feet numb but Im not letting it dampen my trip. There was NO chance in getting it fixed mid trip. There is only 2 harley Dealers in all of Nova scotia and the one in Cape Breton is NOT a Buell dealer and didn't have the 79D part in stock anyways so I said screw it. Im keeping a keen eye on the mount bolts and the ISO for further dmage. So far so good. Just a little history , origional mount = 29000Kms, Buell OEM ISO = 500Kms, DS (shook like hell) 1000Kms. It might be my bike but I doubt it. the origional ISO has a small horizontal tear and only increased vibs margonally in the 3k range. I put it back in after the Buell OEM replacement failed and I was waiting for the DS part to come in, It got no worse. both the Buell and DS ISO tore away from the rear of the metal sleeve. Origional ISO still has not done this...this leads me to believe that it is deffinatly a diffrence in manufactoring. When I get home I`ll try the 79D mount. I gotta say this has been disapointing, Im taking much heat from my Jap riding brethren. Wish me luck Im still following this thread. I`d love a solution I dont have to drill. To all those `Suck it up its a consumable part` I think thats a poor attitude and I personally don`t think its too much to ask for a motor mount to last 25000kms at least!! For those intrested I`ll try and update tommorw night.

Psycrow - how much further do you have to go?
Last summer on was on the North East Shore of Lake Onterio and had to ride all the way back to Minnesota 2-up via Sault St. Marie on a blown isolator. We made it, but like I said, the head bolt sheered before we made it home and fell out on my drive way when I put the bike on the sidestand. |

By the way x1, I probably am just bitching to bitch since i can't sell my bike for 3,000 in my area due to the legendary buell relaibility. I guess the fact that i have owned over 30 bikes and have over 25 yrs of riding and wrenching experience keeping all these running doesn't account for anything.. I'll stand by my statement that my buell is THE most problematic with the worst reasale bike i;ve ever owned. By the way x1 How may bikes have you owned and wrenched on?? I see by your profile your about my sons age.. He can ride and work on his bikes. He used to ride flat track on an old triumph. He just turned 25 |

Well I have owned 11 bikes as of now not bad for my young age I have wrenched my own vehicles since my dad started teaching me at around 9 on one our street rod's. I had rebuilt the engine on my 63 Buick Riveria at 15, not to mention all of my bikes and the IH Scout I owned while I was stationed in Hawai'i with the Corps. Now mind you it wasn't a Buell as there is no dealership out there, but it was a Harley. I can ride and work on my own bikes also. Age isn't really a big factor in this.

I would suggest that Blake or whomever does that, delete this entire thread. There is far too much un-constructive BS in here coming from a bunch of little cryers who are bitching about the reliability and resale value of their bikes and are on there way out of Buell ownership anyway.

Actually you should go back and edit. Weren't you complaining to someone about how to spell above? I would work on some grammar, and sentence structure as well. Kansas is only 2 hours ahead, you do the math. And I'll take my life any day of the week over your existence. |

My existence?? What do you know about it? Other than the fact that i don't like a m/c that you seem to worship and I would be more than happy to sell. God man!!it is just a motorcycle. Keep your life in cali, i'll stick with my "existence" in KS..My life revolves around my wife kids and family.. M/c's are way down the list, the buell is even further since it is the most unreliable of the lot.. Keep the buell banner up and drink the koolaid.. I'll stick with my wife , kids and bikes that run. spend less time in the garage. edit here just for blackm2..It is only 2 hrs but who really gives a shit

Naustin, I have about 700 Kms left to go. if the mount or bolts go I'll have to deal with it. Im not trucking it home now.

Psycrow - My experience was that that you will have no warning when the bolts or the bracket fail. When the first bolt snaps, you may not even realize it right away. The vibes will feel different though.
When the bracket or the second bolt goes - There will be no doubt, and you might come close to losing control of the bike.
Please be careful! This is like riding a canyon at 90mph with a tire that is not just showing cords - but also has a nail in it.
You are taking a big risk - and one that I didn't fully appreciate last summer until I got home and thought about. My desire to just make it home and finish the trip without further interruption clouded my judgement. |

Maybe 65 mph both broke on S2T and hard right curve. Only bad vibration! Then drove 5 mph ,8 miles to farm store where Harley Bro offered to trailer me to my Trailer!!16 miles and that was 25,000 miles ago.No warning what so ever.I love the Looks,Sound,Handling,Parts availability,.History.Pull Some GGGGGGGGs BUTCH |

Looking at the archives (to see if I should use the D-washer with the 79D) and I note a comment that there is a washer between the hanger and the isolator. I have to admit that I don't think I had one installed, so perhaps my Buell part's early failure was incorrect installation? |
