I was riding today on my 01 cyclone for about 40 miles before it started cutting out and the tack was bouncing all over.I checked the plug wires,pulled them off and put them back,that didn't help.the bike started running fine after a while as long as you were above 3500rpm.Then about 20 miles later there was no problem,ran like scolded dog.Problem was i had the same thing happen last year until i replaced the plug wires.I cant be leave the wires are bad already.Any help would be appreciated.

I had the tach on my bike bounce all over the place with the same symptoms you had. I went over all the main grounds on the bike and tightend them up, which solved my problems. Do a resistance check on the plug wires and see if they are in spec. That'll tell you if it is them or if it is some other electrical gremlin.

Jayvee,way do you think it is intake seals,how difficult is the job.Would spraying wd40 around intake seals while running help with that diagnosis[change in engine idle].I'll start with grounds and Resistance. thanks

Have you physically checked out the wires? While doing the front iso thing I found that the rear plug wire had been seriously scraped in 2-3 locations. Cut right through the outer jacket and starting on the white insulation jacket. I had the straight connector on the rear plug. Not a problem with Buell wires, but I was using SE Sportster wires and that straight end was pushing up against the petcock. I also found the same type of cut up near that enrichener bracket even though there is a clamp for the plug wire. Take a look as you may have another bad wire. A friend with a Ulysses had the same issue with his plug wires. Isolated engine bouncing around inside the frame and any wires can get rubbed the wrong way. My PIAA lights aren'e working today and I suspect a wire has been cut somewhere.

check all coil electrical connections as well

Thanks for all the help,I cleaned all grounds put new plug wires on.I have not had any more problems.

Shag, when my 02 M2 tac started bouncing and the engine started spuddering, popping and bogging. I found a light gauge wire coming of the positive stud on the starter. Very flimsy connector broke inside but the insulation held it together so it made a connection for awhile.
I cut the wire under the rubber boot on the + starter stud and reconnected it directly to the battery
+ terminal.
