So, reading through the KV looking for info on removing the Rear isolators on an X1 Lightning. I understand that the X1's have the removable side plate making the right isolator easy to get off first.

But my question is: How easy is it to get the left isolator off?

Will the swingarm mounting block need to be removed?

Is there any prying of the frame involved?

Will the FRONT isolator need to be loosened to prevent damaging the rubber, or bent/broken bolts?

Or, once the tie-bars are unbolted, will the motor in the chassis sway enough to allow access to the left side rear isolator?

Going to try and do this today. Thanks in advance.

Getting the left Iso off is easy once the tie bars are disconnected and the side plate is removed.

No the swing arm block doesn't need to be removed.

If not replacing the front Iso I'd loosen the front 2 Iso mounting bolts and retighten after the rears are in place.

Would also be a good time to grease the swing arm bearings while you are at it.

Condensed instructions:
Suspend the bike from the rafters.
remove hugger fender.
Loosen the huge bolts in the isolators.
(Mine was 1/2" allen not easy to find)
undo the right side plate and all the stuff connected to it.
undo the tiebar heim thing in the left rear.
now the ass-end of the bike flops around and both isolators should pop out without drama.

It took me like 8 hours to do mine since I didn't know about the heim in the left rear.
I unbolted EVERYTHING except for the one thing I needed to unhook!
It's hidden under the hugger.

Details:
There are little roll pins sticking out of the isolators. Make sure they don't stick out too far and interfere with fitting in flush.

The "ears" on the new isolators will interfere with the stock belt guard.
Easily resolved with a hacksaw.
(NO! I mean cut the plastic guard, not the isolator!)

Job was easier than i thought. isolators went in without rafters, just front/rear pit bull stands, jack stands and a bottle jack.

Did a track day with the bike on thurs, new front & rear iso's & new works shock. the bike was as smooth as could be.

thanks for the tips guys.
