Hey Migs,
There are much more informed members on this site...but. I believe it accesses a different ignition mapping on 99 M2's and increases the hard rev limit to 7,200 RPM.

The race ignition module raises the rev limit to 7,000 RPM up from the stock 6,800 RPM. The stock module also starts retarding the timing at 5,500 RPM, which the race one does not. This is where I noticed the seat of my pants power increase with my race ignition. Also it is a very simple swap, just 2 socket head cap screws and one wiring connector.

Mine was an eBay find. Picked it up in a lot of 5 ignition modules. I bought the lot for $25 and sold off the other four, so I basically got it for free. I don't think american sportbike sells them. Some dealers might have some still sitting around, but you have to have a racer's license to buy directly from Buell.

Hey Migs16, there is a Buell Race Ignition module that's commonly found on eBay, or in this site's Classified section. Sometimes an internet aftermarket supplier will have them too, and they don't ask for a racing license. I got mine off of eBay, I think. It could be my imagination, but to me the bike felt a tiny bit stronger on the low rpm end too.

There is a very relevant and interesting thread here in the Knowledge Vault:

The only real difference between a stock M2 module and the race module is the rev limiter.
The stock has a soft rolloff, the race has a hard limit.
For the 99 - 2002 the rev limit is the same on both.

For the long warmups....with the forcewinder and D&D in your profile, did you rejet? My S1W took forever to "warm up" until I upped my slow jet to a 48 (from a 45; stock is 42 IIRC). Most folks run 45/190 or 195, with 2.5 turns out on the mix screw. I run 45/190 on my S2 with thunderstorm top end and cams; 48/190 is what my S1W (stock engine, Buell race intake and Buell race exhaust - header and muffler) wants. Both mine are 2.5 turns out.
