Hi all.........Got home about an hour ago........(no pic, Oakland is not into getting photographed) : )

Took 50 all the way from Colorado then along Lake Tahoe and then followed the Sacramento river to the bay area. Love those back roads.

Thanks to ALL of YOU!!..This event got my S2 and me out of a 4 yr retirement ..........sooooooooo glad I did!!!!

Special thanks to Frank and Rex..............who really saw this through from an idea to the finished product.

Also thank to Fireman Jim, who went over the bike and installed new jets in the carb and a few gaskets here and there, that went bad from sitting. It ran like a top, cept for the warped disk and the ignition switch debacle.

Ride safe.......Jack

Frank and all that were there... Thanks! I had a great time. Killer pics, too. Couldn't ask for better people or bikes to ride with.
I stayed in Minturn Monday and Tuesday, then headed to Carlsbad to see another convert/pervert (R1150gsa to an '09 Uly). Left Carlsbad yesterday and got in about 3. Bike was bucking and kicking the entire trip. Gonna try a TPS reset manana.

I rolled in last night, 4196 miles for the run. I will put up some pics and stories later, lots of other things to do first after two weeks away. I had a great time, love my bike, hate the wind and my home state drivers. Had a lot of fun at the rally, thanks to Frank and Rex for all the hard work making it a success.

Thankfully it didn't rain on my new "modification", and she made it home intact (OK, so not completely intact).

Last April, this is about as far as I got trying to get to the top of Mt. Evans. At least this June everything wasn't quit frozen over.

OK, so how are you guys getting these pictures posted up?!

Sorry for the too big pictures...

One more for tonight. I need to figure out this picture thing...

Take the warning to wear sunscreen at high altitude! I was burnt to a crisp in under two hours at 30 degrees F (It was 78 at the bottom, 30 degrees at the top, with a 20 wind chill).

Butch,

My problem was that I broke the mount in two places. The bag was still attached to the frame. It was just that the frame wasn't attached to anything (except duct tape).

LOL! Denny,

Its actually p!ssing me off!

I couldn't seem to get the files small enough for the Badweb to accept, so I am linking it to a web site called Free Image Hosting. You either get a big picture, or a small one that you can click on and it will go to a larger picture (unless I'm not doing that right either...).

Photoe-Buckit gives you a choice of what size you want to upload just lately say you pic 800x600 works fine for 15" screen.

Oh my sore ass! We're home! The bike is an oily mess from a leaking stator plug for the last thousand miles or so.
Briefly: the Monarch Pass was clean and not too cold. Nice road. I mis-read the map for the twisty detour at Molinas to Moab. We ended up doing the main highways from there. The twisty stuff was being too hard on Jaci's neck and knees, plus eating up too much time. Eastern Utah was cool! We detoured down from Fallon, Nev to ride through Yosemite but I'd mis-calculated the time involved and ending up riding through the valley and out to Mariposa, Calif in the dark, on twisty roads with signs warning of deer and bears. Into the San Francisco area, I had no idea that it would take so long, given that they have all those freeways. In fact, I thought that we'd go from central Nevada, through Yosemite, and finish the day in Vacaville. More like two days! Firemanjim very generously fixed me up with a new front isolator. We got a day in with Jaci's aunt and uncle then did the Interstates north for three days to get home. 5400 miles roughly. I'm heading for the bathtub. And taking the car to work tomorrow.

Well that is it. Everyone is home safe and sound save some bruised butts.

I finally feel like the event is over and it was a great one.

Mike, great pics and I am glad you were able to finally make it up Evans. Eric and Jaci, Lynn and I are glad you made it home ok. If any one earned that trophy it was you two.

Haven't made it to the tub yet so I was catching up on some earlier threads. Yikes!
Through most of the ride I was having bad feelings about the front end. Something sounded and felt loose. Hit the brakes hard at Yosemite and heard the sound of a bolt tinkling down the pavement. Scoured the road but found nothing. Scoured the bike and realized that it was the sound of the "gremlin bell" that we'd had given to us in Pocatello. It was mounted to the front heimjoint and banging on the fender when I braked.
With that out of the way for worries, it still was feeling bad under hard braking. North of San Francisco, another hard brake application had a part rolling down the road beside us. It was the bell. Turns out it was snagging the fender under braking load. The string finally snapped. I'll put it back on somewhere else.

Eric and Jaci- Yowza on that ride! It is amazing always to me how much longer it is to anywhere when you stay off the straight roads. I envy you not at all the 3 day grind up I-5, even though there are some interesting sections around Mt.Shasta and Grants Pass. Otherwise, like fingernails on a chalkboard. Really glad to hear you made it home, I could never do a ride like that 2up on the S2. Jaci, I think, gets the ultimate bun burner award.

Eric,

Glad to hear that you and Jaci made it back OK. That is some ride two up. Impressive! It is pretty easy to misjudge time/distance out there it seems. I had trouble with that out there last year, and ended up running interstates more than I wanted as well...

A friend gave me one of those bells to put on also. I guess I don't want to put it to the front tie bar. I WAS looking there, but not now...

Shane,

It sounded like you had a pretty good trip as well. Also glad to hear that everything went well.

The S2's that go anywhere near CA seem to get drawn to FiremanJim like a magnet!

Jim, thanks for helping get all these S2's to and home from the event.
