Ive got some minor oil leaking from under the shift lever pivot bolt. I can't see any gasket specified in the manual so I'm wondering if Its even possible to leak from here and the oil is coming from somewhere else and running here because its the lowest point while on the kick stand. Except its there right after a ride?!? Any ideas on where to look. Am I missing a rubber gasket on this bolt?

Primary gasket??? But you can always try to remove the bolt and squirt a little Permatex (or like) around the bolt and reinstall and let us know how it works.

There is a gasket around the shifting rod. The service manual actually tell you to replace it if you ever take the primary cover off. If you still have the from the factory gasket, it probably did go. Just clean up the underside and then turn it on, you will see it drip. Hope this helps.

If you are careful the shifter seal can be re-used. I re-used mine and no leaks.

I've never replaced my shaft seal and it leaks. I don't care enough to replace it. The primary gets checked regularly and there's no noticeable drop in fluid level. The shaft seal just leaks enough to get the cover messy.

well I cleaned up the bike an took it for a run last night. Oil doesn't seem to be coming from the primary cover seam. Also Im talking about the shifter pivot bolt (secures the shift pedal) not the splined shifter shaft itself. I've actually had that seal go bad 2 years ago and it drips down the face of the Primary cover and collects on the shift lever pivot spacer and drips just like now except there is no oil running from it this time. I know a Pic might help but Im at work now.

If it's from the bolt that the shifter pivots on, I would just wrap it in teflon tape and put it back in.

I'll give that a try but is it possible the oil leak IS in the primary Gasket's inside edge and is leaking into the bolt hole but not through to the outside of the primary? Might be a stupid question but I'm still a noob.

Ah yes oil can come out of there, I used some brake clean with a straw attached to the can and squirted all of the oil out of the hole. and then i used a lot of red lock tight. No problems since, Just remember to let the lock tight set before riding it.

Seal P/N 37101-84 goes in the cover where the shifter goes in.

Had that once when I removed the chin fairing to do other maintenance. Didn't remove the primary cover, just the fairing. Ended up with a 'weep' from the bolt that the shifter pivots on, like you. Cured the issue by removing the primary cover, and replacing the OE gasket w/the new, upgraded one. No problems since.

Hope this helps, Dave

think I will replace that gasket next oil change and check the Primary chain tensioner while I'm in there. For now I think I will try some plumber's tape or some permatex.. thanks Guys.
