What is the average mileage per tank of gas everyone is getting with their X1's. Probably be a good idea to know what engine mods have been done also. I just want to get a general idea so I will know approx when the fuel light will come on. I use this method on my touring bike (2006 FLHTCUI) because you can't trust the fuel gage at all.

I really do not worry much about mileage but each of my bikes I just use the trip meter. 1 may get 150 till reserve and another 100-125. So I just reset the trip on refill and don't even look at the odometer normally.

That is exactly what I'm saying. Resetting the tripmeter at each fill up is a better way to know how much further you can go (approx) especially if you are in an area where gas stations are few and far between. Also, since FI bikes don't have reserve I want to know just how much more I can squeeze out of it before I'm dry.

I seen the low fuell light once and only one in four years. "00"x1, it was somewhere around 180 miles. C/F oval race intake, V/H slip on, race ecm, normal riding. I jest set the trip too. After 150 miles next and or any gas stop will do.

I figured I get 38 to 40 mpg depending on how I ride my bike I've set my trip meter every time I fill up so around 200mi the light comes on and I all I've done is K&N air filter and D&D muffler....02 X1

wow, i must be too hard on the gas, I get 130 average, 140 max before the fuel light comes on. 2001 x1 Force race winder and pipe with race ecm. Runs dry about 18 miles after fuel light comes on (learned that the hard way)

anywhere from 160 to 200 miles on my '02 X1.. all depending on how I ride it.

1250 kit, Forcewinder, D&D slip-on

I always ride mine until the light comes on, and have never run out. Don't know how many miles is left with the light on but it's enough to find gas.

The day I bought my bike the dealer told me it only had a little gas in it. I asked if it was enough to get me home which was 20 miles up the interstate. They knew where I lived and reassured me that would be fine. I was an idiot and passed a gas station getting on the interstate and took their word for it. After a few miles I started getting more and more comfortable with the bike. Again, I was an idiot and was traveling rather quickly. I got 1 mile from my exit and she started to sputter. I pushed it for the last 3/4 of a mile, up the exit ramp and then coasted 100 yards downhill to the gas station. I didn't take my helmet off the entire time because I was too ashamed of all the people passing me that I just passed. A state trooper showed up and offered to call a tow truck. I explained that I lived right off the exit and he said, "I'll call a tow truck" Anyways, the tripometer was on 125. I since then have always refilled at 120, usually only putting 2.5 gallons in but I don't stretch it. I am pretty positive that the trip had been reset or they may have even taken some gas out of the tank at some point. I am figuring about 45 miles to the gallon with a race ecm, pcIII, force pipe and forcewinder intake

Oh, and the light never came on, so I won't go off that. Probably doesn't work so I just check the miles

I ride mine fast and usually the light comes on at 126 miles. I dared 1 time to go another 18 but had to stop for gas!

I was told by some HD\buell tech to never let it run out of gas or the computer would try and rich-en the fuel to the point it would not start again. I dont think this is true though just something i was told.

When mine ran out of gas it restarted with no problem. Maybe I got lucky.

Fuel mileage is a highly individual situation, entirely dependent on the machine and rider. In my case, my '01 X-1 gets 50ish mpg; higher when on the highway. My suggestion would be to run a tank for about 150 miles, then strap a gallon of gas on the back and ride until the light comes on and then you run out of fuel. Then you will know what to expect from your bike.

The low fuel light can be somewhat hard to see in bright sunshine. DAMHIK. The one time I did run out of fuel, good fortune smiles on the dumb sometimes, as I was right at a gas station. After pushing it maybe 50ft to a gas pump, it started right up after putting fuel in it.

Hope all of this helps, Dave.

i get 200 miles on the highway & about 130 haulin butt around towns before light.
i wouldn't recommend doin the "strap a gas tank" idea as electric fuel pumps don't like to be starved

Not only the fuel pump could get damaged/overheated but you also suck all the crap from the bottom of the tank. So why wait?! Like someone else said before, I put 2.5 gallons in when I hit 120 miles.

Holy crap. you guys get some crazy mileage. I can go about 110-115 miles and light comes on. I did run out once and hit 122 with light on. I think my bike is secretly working for shell gas co.

I have a 01' X1, it has a race ecm, and a force exhaust. I get about 40 miles per gallon +/- 3 miles. Yesterday, I had 160 miles on my trip, filled up with 3.901 gallons of gas. The bike holds 4.2 gallons. I hope this helps. Matthew Tully

Don't trust the light. I think mine has come on once and never again. I usually fill up around 200 or 220. It's funny but I get around 50 mpg whether I'm flogging it or cruising the super slab. Oh, I've got a race ecm and Vance and Hines. Haven't had the 1250 on long enough to test the fuel mileage.
