So i had the oil pump drive gear installed no problem. Then motor work and some .536 cams and now the oil light flickers at low idle, As soon as you roll the throttle just a hair it goes off. This seems to happen only when the motor is fully warmed to operating temp. Is the pump going out? Is the pressure sensor going out? Or is this normal because of the aggressive cam lobe?

Any takers?
And yes there is the correct oil level in the bike.

Make sure that you have a secure connection at the sensor... the little L connection holds onto the sensor like a spark plug without the little cap. mine used to vibrate loose and flicker the light. Other than that, just make sure your rpm's aren't dropping lower than 900.

BUELLers;

Do not set you IDLE any lower than 1000 RPM !!!

If you install a too high of a micron oil filter it will make you oil pressure lamp glow ...

The BEST OIL PRESSURE SENSOR on your engine is the HYD. Tappets, when they get nois}y
it is check the oil time ...

With the oil cap off the oil tank you can see the oil returning to the oil tank ...

Oil does return and bike rpm is 1050-1100. So i talked to some folks and if you go with the stock pump with .536 cams you will see this light issue and i was also informed that putting in a uly oil pump would solve this??????

Anyone care to comment on this!

I was considering getting the upgraded pump. "Now" do i have a reason to get the better pump?

Preybird1:

"BUELLschitte" to the cams having anything to do with the oil pressure light ...

The XB -02B oil pump is the latest and greatest OEM oil pump and "i" would put one on ...
