Hello, my paintshop buddy is pulling whatever hair he has left out.
For the second time both my newly painted S1 and S3 (both 1998) mantra tanks are blistering for no apparent reason.
Tanks have been prepped and painted, all appears ok and then paintwork begins to lift.
One tank is not so bad as it is black with a satin laquer, but the other is a full blown custom.
My buddy has asked me to see if anyone here has knowledge on what sealing and priming process was adopted at the factory when the plastic tanks were first painted.
He has indicated one of my tanks had a lot of small pin holes in the construction.
Can anyone spread any knowledge or advise on how to counter, what I can only assume is either fuel fumes or something in the plastic leaching through the plastic of tank and attacking the paint and laquer internally.
Thanks in advance for any assistance.
A very peeved Buell owner.
