I think my rocker gaskets are leaking. And I haven't ordered a parts manual yet. Can someone get me the part number for these? Also did the 02 come with the stock paper gasket that I read about that are crap and if so where can I get the nice steel ones? Or is there a kit I can order. Thanks guys. | ||

Yes, all tubers had stock paper gaskets for the rockers... The paper gaskets are obsolete and have been superseded to the newer metal style. Just tell the dealer you need front and rear rockerbox gasket kits for your bike then open them before buying to make sure they are not paper...Even though they most likely are not. OR You can order the Cometic re-usable gaskets. | ||

If ya got a little cash stashed you might want check out XB cover conversion. eliminates a set of gaskets and less chance of leaking. I sanded the rough texture to match head. gives ya all the part numbers and procedures.  | ||

So is the M2L motor considered to be an Buell XL motor. When I look in my service manual it is listed as a Thunderstorm motor? But I see online that the sportsters have an XL motor, and then I read all the controversy of buells having sportster engines but they are different and some parts will fit others wont. It makes finding parts for the bike difficult. Thanks for all the help and advice guys. I guess my first year of having the bike I'll spend more time tinkering then riding  | ||

once u start and figure out where to get parts from and the motor possibilities it is hard to stop. I haven't owned my m2 for a year yet and I have had it apart twice and still put almost 10,000 miles on it! | ||

It's a Thunderstorm motor because of the heads, which are Buell design. The M2 motor is as XL as they get, spark plugs may be different, motor mounts are, but they are almost entirely the same hardware wise. The XB kits prolly have the same base gasket but they have a two piece rocker box not a three piece like your stock M2 would have. Reusable gaskets would be nice as I've taken my rocker boxes off a number of times for various repairs. | ||

Just get the gaskets from American Sport Bike, easy and as fast as the dealer, who likely won't have them in stock anyway. It's a pretty straightforward replacement, but I would hesitate to describe it as 'easy'. | ||

Err, I thought M2s run stock Sporty cams(?) with possibly S3s and Lightning models (you pick the designation: S1, S1W, X1 running SE cams or Buell versions of the same). ...get an allen wrench that you dont mind trimming a bit to get at the bolt. Which bolt? Oh, youll know which one. lol. Its not as technical as it seems and youll probably be riding more than you think. you do have the shop manual, right? | ||

Yeppers got the service manual but not the parts manual. Was hoping to get cash to do the XB conversion but wont be able to swing that for a bit. Trying to find the the right gaskets. 1) Has anyone ordered the gaskets from American Sport Bike? Are they re-usable? The rocker cover gasket is made of silicone and the head to cover gasket is steel with some sort of coating. 2)Do you know what size allen wrench it is? see if i can pick up an extra one at work so I don't cut up my good set at home | ||

I believe the Flywheels are around 3 or 4lbs lighter, So I have been told! |
