I think my key switch has died - it turns on the odometer at the first stop but when turned fully clockwise it does not allow the starter to spark up. I am prepared to replace it but need the part number. Is this a rare problem? I had been having a problem with it doing this in the past months which has always been solved by spraying a little electrical lubricant into the key slot. I guess it's just plain worn. Am I right? | ||

Factory ignition switches frequently go out. I've had 3 fail and once gave the ECM a low voltage alarm. I've had to hot wire the bike a few times until the replacement parts came in. I now use a Drag Specialties model which makes a nice replacement - it looks like the same one that Al from American Sport Bike carries. | ||

+1 on Al's replacement. I've had mine for a year or two with no probs. If you get stuck, it's easy to wire up a toggle switch as there are only three wires in. I keep mine handy, just in case. | ||

Take the switch to a good locksmith and they can re Key it to your existing key, so you won't have to carry two keys. |
