In trying to diagnose a battery charging issue, it was suggested grab the engine codes. These are what I got:
Error codes:
11-TPS
13- O2 sensor
14-ET (engine temp)
15-air intake temp
16-battery voltage
23-front injector
32-rear injector
33-fuel pump

wow... What does this have to do with battery charging issues? Could this be as side effect of the Power Commander?

I just recently had my battery go bad in my X1. It threw codes:11, 14, 16 and 33. I'm no engineer but I think the crazy codes might be caused by the low voltage and the lack of the ECM to cope with it. This might be a good way of identifying bad battery/charging systems.

bad cell in battery? A battery can test good and still be screwed up. Use the best test you can beg for!

Yea, I just had to change my voltage regulator, and when I checked my codes before I changed it, I got the O2 sensor, front and rear fuel injectors and battery voltage. I then checked the voltage regulator with a volt ohm meter. Replaced the voltage regulator, unhooked my battery (erased the codes) and when I hooked it back up, no more codes, and my battery drainage problem was fixed. The voltage regulator was only about 80-90 bucks, but it could be your stator as well, but probably the voltage regulator. I hope this helps, and I hope you get it fixed, Matt Tully

I did the tests outlined in the manual... everything looked good but all things being equal, I'm thinking it's the voltage regulator as well. I replaced the battery last month.

For the record... replacing the VR fixed the problem. *yeah*

BUELLers:

REMEMBER THIS: In electronics everything is tied to everything else ...

If you TROUBLE SHOOT with the bikes code system you get the highest code first, "BUT" it maybe a lesser code that is the problem or what is really wrong may not even show up ...

If you do not change your BATTERY(get a new one every three years) and do not keep your BATTERY on a TRICKLE CHARGER(BATTERY TENDER PLUS) when not riding you will develop these "MYSTERY ELECTRON" problems ...

Tye wrap all your wiring so that it is not doing the "WIGGLE TEST" as you are riding down the road ...

A simple maintenance thing like not up-dating your BATTERY every three years can take out your STATOR, and/or voltage regulator, PLUS cause numerous "MYSTERY ELECTRICAL" problems before it shuts the system down and becomes a LABOR/$$$.$$ problem ...

MAY THE LONG LASTING BUELL BE WITH YOU !!!
