Hey guys, I was wondering what everyone thought about air intakes. I was thinking about getting the harley big bore intake, and at 150$ some odd bucks it seems like a very good deal. Then there is the forcewinder as well, so please give me your ideas on which one to get. Thanks guys.

Force winder is nice for your knees,
it is said to hamper performance beyond a certain point.

I was told the ham can race style is the best. I have used the force winder currently on the bike, And my own version the econo winder i haven't noticed much of a difference

I love my forcewinder for my carbed bike but I don't know how well they work on the FI bikes.

IMHO the HAM STYLE is the BEST with two K&N Filters so it will breathe ...

Other wise a K&N stuck on the end of the
OEM SNORKEL in side the OEM Air Box so you can ride in the "RAIN" ...

What does the "Harley Big Bore Intake" look like? The price seems quite reasonable.
I changed over to Forcewinder a couple of weeks ago and to be honest I bought it mostly for the looks. I think it gives the bike a bad-ass attitude.

IMO the HamCam is the best, as others have mentioned. Even better is to get it with the NRHS HurricaneFlow billet backplate, which is available through Al at American Sport Bike, because the venturi is built into the backing plate and you can order it with 2" or 3" K&N filter elements.

I'd like to get a force winder as the ham can hit's my knee pretty good (I'm 6'3"), but it's low on the list right now. I agree Kalali, I think the look bad-ass on there too. Anyone wanna trade?

Look at some OLD S2's or older models and you will see the HAM CAN Air Cleaner at a different angle which will allow your knee to clear ...

I've noticed that before, do you just have to drill out new holes in the backplate?

Basically, "BUT" "i" would plug the old holes ...

Bevel both ends of the holes and fill with JB Weld ...

Kalali, the harley big bore intake looks almost identical to the forcewinder intake, and for less than half the price, I dont see how you can go wrong. Thanks for all the info guys, keep it coming, thanks again, Matthew Tully

The stock S2 backplate is fiberglass and prone to breakage. Ask Al to ask Dan to make an S2 backplate but with the hole for the FI sensor (I don't know what it is 'cuz I'm not DDFI savvy).

So this Big Bore Intake is available thru the dealers?
The intake that comes stock with the CVO Screaming Eagle Harley models looks really awesome and looks a lot more substantial than the Forcewinder. That has got to be pretty expensive and I a not even sure if it will fit our Buells.

Any intake that will fir a 40mm CV will work. You will either need to drill a hole for the Intake Air Temp sensor or relocate it. I am using an S&S from a sportster and relocated my IAT sensor. Over 2k miles and no problems.
