Last two rides out, after an hour or so, the M2 starts making this weird whine at cruising speed (60-70 mph) that sounds almost like a tire whine or a part vibrating. Getting off the freeway changed the tone, but it didn't go away. Tires are in fair shape, and I don't hear it around town/locally, and always toward the end of the ride. It has a strange harmonic kid of hum that does not change with RPM. Any ideas?
I was reaching around touching various panels/components trying to mute or change the tone, but nothing doing....

I'd be checking my wheel bearings , I had a similar noise , the rear bearings were seized.

check the primary chain too. set it to the specks in your manual. Even if it feels loose it tightens up as the bike warms up. When I got my Buell there was a learning curve, all the settings on a Buell are totally different than on a harley.
