I want to replace the stock shifter assembly on my 1998 S3. My question is do I buy the Billet for $270 or can I replace it with the 2001 Buell shifter upgrade(Buell 2001 shifter lever/linkage upgrade # 49074-01Y)? I found this mentioned on Don Casto's conventional wisdom and suggestions for 97/98 S3/S3T owners (http://www.doncasto.net/DonCastosS3ConventionalWis dom.html#Shift Lever Assembly) If this will work, can I just purchase it from my local Buell stealership? Thanks!

is the m2 peg location different than the x1? im pretty sure it is but you m2 owners may know a bit more. i bought the shifter off of the yellow m2 in the classified's, am i going to be able to use it on my x1. i know it will bolt on, but will it not be long enough?

the S3 and M2 shifters should interchange.

the piece with the shift peg is the piece that is different between the 2. we could swap those pieces only if that would help you. or the whole shift linkage could be for SALE. i am sure we could work something out...........
