Folks, I'm in the middle of installing a FW (carb model, bought used) on my X1 and not sure how to remove the IAT cable from the stock backplate. The cable/wire is routed through a grommet hole too small for removing the plug head. Did you guys end up cutting th two wires and splicing them again or there is a trick I can't figure out. Appreciate any help.
Thanks.

The IAT should unplug then it should come out with the grommet removed. That's how I got mine out.

Tom thanks a lot for the quick reply. Did the grommet come out in one piece?
I'll give is a shot.

Got it. I guess the grommet stays on the cable. I'll just move it up close to the frame.
Thanks again.

Glad you got it. I rerouted my IAT up next the the diagnostics plug at the steering tube. I didn't want to cut the cable and still make sure it was far enough away from the heat not to give bad readings. Just tuck it up behind the frame tube and you can pull it up thru the gaps then zip tie it so the wire stay secure.

Great. That's what I will do.
Looks like a different bike with the plastics removed.

Got the thing all installed and looks great.
Just wanted to thank Eddie (Fasted) for a trouble free transaction and Tom (Tdman77) for his tips.
Can't wait to ride the bike...

No problems bro. Make sure you do a TPS/AFV reset and take a 10min ride in closed loop to get the ECM dialed in.
