Has anyone put frame sliders on an S-2?

if yes, did they work?

I emailed Streetfighters and they said that their sliders begin the the M-2 or X-1, but nothing for an S-2.

My bike has fallen over a few times but never high sided, but I figure that day is coming.

any experience/parts anyone can share would be appreciated.

tnx

Road_oiler, I do not have frame sliders but it seems that I have seen some that attach to the frame on other tubers, never a S2. I do not know how much they would do to help a S2. The only thing that saved my S2 a couple of weekends ago was the deep bags I had on it. I still managed to break a front turn signal, crack the front fairing, scratch up the lowers and crack the tank cover. I do not think sliders would have helped.

tnx Frank:

for what ever reason I have felt that I am overdue far a fall and thought I'd start looking at preventive measures to limit the damage.
Sorry to hear about your S-2 going down. How did that large lid make out?}

I get that feeling sometimes too. The bags did ok. I repainted them with the same paint that I used before (rattle can) and they turned out a slightly different color LOL. No big deal I will repaint them correctly one day. Here is the thread on my fall. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/681 7/460385.html?1242651761

I agree, not that badly damaged - or not as bad as I imagined.
I envy you that you have a GF to ride with, I'd like that for a change- not that I regret ANY of my past GF's or the 1st wife for that matter.
Are you coming to the homecoming this year? I am meeting up with Santa Claus of Buell Bros Racing, let me know.
tnx

ps,nice bike.

Yes I am riding out to Homecoming. I missed all the other ones but being in the military sometimes has you places where you cannot do the things you want to. No regrets, I made the 25th and had a blast and so did Lynn. Yes I really like having a gf that rides. I wish she would let me ride her bike more. The only time I get to ride it is when I change the oil or need to check something out.

My 1st wife did not ride and did not like riding on the back. When we met I was riding a Ironhead Sporty and when she got covered in oil that was the end of it. It might of had something to do with the motor I rebuild in the bathtub as well.

I am camping at Homecoming and will be on my Uly. It is Gun Metal Gray so it might stand out a bit. I was actually debating not going. I have a lot to do with the S2 Gathering and all my weekends are taken with Homecoming, Company function in NM and then the Gathering. June is busy. I submitted my vacation time and it looks good.

I want to ride the motorcycle!

Frank - we can't wait to see you at the campground : ) If you need anything bigger than a Uly bag, let us know. Beer cooler's already on the list, lol.

For all interested: I ordered some LSL sliders for Kim's 'newsed' M2L. Before I install them on her M2, I'll test fit on my S2. If I've gotten a new charger built for the camera, I'll even have pictures!

....now, where's that soldering iron.....

Hey Frank: My S-2 is parkway blue.Illinois plates, I just love your oily iron head 1st wife story!!
I have an '84 FXRT that blew the rocker box gasket. If I rode real fast 75+ the rear box would leak real bad and get my (1st) wifes thighs oily. I told her it was foreplay!! but she did not buy into it. she is gone now, I am working on #2. So your GF NOT only rides but is selfish about HER bike!!! I love it. do you two have a web site? whats the address? just kidding.
I will look for your bike @ the homecoming, i have gray hair glasses, most likely with a guy with white hair beard, and looks like a skinny Santa Claus.
I hope our paths cross if only to shake hands and say hello.

Road_oiler, I look forward to meeting you. I will see your bike, I promise. I always gravitate towards S2s. I will be on my Uly (it is Gun Metal Gray). I have been looking forward to putting some miles on that bike.

I hated that Ironhead but it taught me a lot about bikes.

I am lucky to have Lynn. There is nothing sexier than a girl that rides her own bike and rides it well.

Well, the M2 sliders I got from Al at American Sport Bike fit on the S2 just fine. They have to sit a bit farther back on the horizontal frame tube due to the header design, but they do fit.

As to protection....I'm sure they'd help, but I suspect it'd be the difference between a mashed header and cracked bodywork, and a scraped header and scratched bodywork. My main concern is, they're a "post" design - they stick straight out from the frame. If they caught anything in a slide at speed...they could lever and put a kink in the frame. Kim's good once she's moving, my main concern with her is starting/stopping...so I think she'll be OK if/when she uses them on the M2L. They don't stick out as far as the breadbox on the right, but the one on the left should give good protection : )
