Ok, so I took the tank off of my X1 due to some past suggestions. A little bit of leaking from the rear cylinder head gasket. But the problem was thick goop dripping onto my starter motor. No sight of it coming from the top end. Although--- i noticed before i took the tank off when i started it up a bunch of spots of black stuff was all over my boot from the exhaust- also onto my white wheel. I'm thinking there is oil coming from the breather bolts, into the intake, then coming out the exhaust. Also, my spark plugs were pretty sooty. I changed my oil (was pretty dark) and the trans fluid, cleaned up the plugs, and tomorrow I will be putting everything back together. So, any ideas about the black goo? If pictures could help, I'll try to remember to bring my digital camera and get some good shots. One more thing- I took off the clutch inspection cover and there was some condensation on the outer plate. I thought it was oil droplets at first, but after a few minutes I looked at it again and they were all gone. Should I be worried? Thanks a lot fellas. -Nick |
