Been thinking about selling my mint X1 and buying a S1. The only thing I don't like about the S1's are the finish on the engine, carbs and most I have seen for sale are higher mileage than my current bike. So.... I am thinking...maybe buy an S1 frame and swap over my X1 stuff. That way I would have a low mileage, strong engine that I know and is finished wrinkle black, the better swingarm and fuel injection. From what little I know most everything should bolt up (not sure about the FI with the S1 tank though) but the front end, swingarm, and engine should be plug and play right? Thoughts anyone?

Engine, swingarm and front end would be fine.

The tank would have to be a late model s3 fi manta tank, or you could possibly use a seperate electric pump mounted wherever if you wanted the skinny tank.

You will have to weld in a 02 bung in the stock s1 exhaust, or beat the hell out of your x1 exhaust to get it to fit. Thats been done before

Timing cups are different if i recal

Im guessing youll have to fab up brackets for the bas, and the ecm. Not sure what else there is.

Honestly i dont really feel as if its worth the time and effort, i just did a search on this yesterday. Slap a mikuni hsr42 on the s1 and be done with it. Whats wrong with a carb anyways?

Guell - Thanks good info. I like the smoothness of the FI. I have owned several carbed bikes in the past but now matter how perfectly tuned they had time when though were not smooth(usally the first few miles of a ride)FI is soo easy, no jets ar anything to mess with, but then I haven't had to diagnose any FI problems, I understand that can be a PIA.

Yea i understand that, i too prefer fi, but to convert my m2, which i had thought about, would be a pain.

Ignore what i said about the timing cups if you keep the x1 engine. I was thinking about the older carbed engines.
