Last night i pulled the rear wheel to replace the worn out dunlop and noticed that the brake side bearing looks like it has been slinging some lube out. It feels rough not silk smooth like the other side. But has no play what-so-ever. These bearing only have about 2000 miles on them. should i replace immediatly?

i would replace it for the fact that it may or may not be bad, but the wheel is off and the cost is minimal.....hard to say where that lube is actually coming from....i have never seen a seal bearing throw lube. did you lube your axle when you put it together the first time?

BUELLers:

Three things cause you REAR WHEEL BEARING to "go bad" ...

1.) Not re-greaseing them("YES", you can re-grease sealed bearings as these are just dust covers !!!) ...

2.) "OVER TIGHTENING" rear axle nut and not using the correct "TORQUE"(this is what happens is you "OVER" squeeze the spacer !!!) ...

3.) Incorrect adjustment of the REAR DRIVE BELT(destroys the bearings on the sprocket side and the rear wheel !!!) ...

MAY THE LONG LASTING BUELL BE WITH YOU !!!

Can someome shed some light on the correct way to remove the seal?
And can i by just the bearing for the brake side?
When i bought these ones it was a three pack kit from American Sport Bike, ans i dont want to spend 55$ +shipping for only really needing one bearing.

I use dental picks in the garage. They can pull the dust covers without leaving a gouge, and you can get them in multipacks (the picks, that is) at hobby shops.

BUELLers:

Take the "BEARING" out and take it to your LOCAL BEARING STORE ...

They will read the BEARING NUMBER off the old bearing for the bearing replacement ...

"i" aways "ASK", can you supply me with a better bearing than the OEM one which is usually a "YES" ...

MAY THE LONG LASTING BUELL BE WITH YOU !!!

At one time the commercial numbers were posted in the KV. The KV has been reorganized, and the Wheels, Tires, and (something I already forgot and can't find again!) thread has been replaced.
Here's what I found at Don Casto's website:
Castalloy Wheels –Front - 2 ea 6204-2RS, Rear/Right side –(2) 6205-2RS/Left side –(1) 62205-2RS

PM (Chrome) Wheels - NSK bearings
Front – (2) 6204-2RS /Rear – (3) 6205-2RS

As Buellistic suggested, it wouldn't hurt to see what upgrades are available.

It may just be an optical illusion, but it looks like the bore in the hub is loose...if that bearing will come out with finger pressure....you have a serious problem...the grease looks like it is coming from between the bearing and the hub...

Some shops smear a light coating of grease on top of the seal as an additional barrier from water intrusion. I do this and at times I get a starburst grease blot like the one pictured.

Blake, if the bearing feels "rough", it should be checked carefully.
It should be smooth when you turn it.

The inner spacer tube is aluminum, if it's over torqued it can be squished a bit. As Buellistic said, this will cause over loading of of the inner race.
The spacer should be replaced if that is the case. They aren't expensive but you would have to order it..

If you replace one bearing on the drive side, you should do both.
Removal is a pain, I do have a blind bearing puller you can use if needed. If you want, you can bring the wheel over and we can pull them.

I picked up my last set of bearings at ISC (Industrial Supply Company) in Plymouth.

I ride like an addict.Every day I ride at the end of day,I clean bike.Thats how I find a lot of ills or from day to day how bad or to watch on ride more often or to tare down and repair.Bearing looks really clean.I would ride after cleaning check again ,spin while cleaning and feel bearing performance.I think bearing is over packed
