I had lunch today at the Subway just off the interstate. Our town is located right on I-64 just east of Lexington. Every year about this time, well, Wednesday before Memorial Day to be exact, hundreds if not thousands of bikes pass by and most stop here to eat and gas up as many of them overnight at the next small town that doesn't have many restaurants. I was chatting with some guys from Illinois who had left Il. rode to L.A. and were heading now to the wall. What a ride that would be. I'd love to be able to take off on a coast to coast trip like that. I just want to stand over the interstate and raise my fist as they ride by, you know, kinda like William H. Macy in Wild Hogs when all the "real" bikers ride by. jk but it is a cool sight seeing hundreds of bikes parked outside a gas station and know they're all headed to the same place for the same cause. If things go my way I'll be heading out Friday morning and hitting D.C. sometime Sat. night or Sunday morning. Keep your fingers crossed.
