First dry and sunny day in a long while. So I got the bike out for a general cleaning and look over and found the side stand pivit pin is loose, backing out. I can't readily see how it is secured in place. Help!

Thanks, What do you know about the safety interlock switch on the side stand? Don't know that I want to disable it but I want to know how it works in case it fails. Maybe make a wire up and keep it in the tool kit or something.

About 3-4 weeks ago the one on my S3 started acting up in a parking lot, so I looked around and saw a sewing machine repair center and bought some straight pins and shoved one through the wires.

I need to get it fixed proper one of these days.

Yes, that will work. When the stand is up the switch closes making the wire a closed circuit. You can defeat it but I would rather have it working proper. I would buy some contact cleaner and spray the sh.. out of it. The cleaner should not hurt paint or other plastics if it states on can, plastic safe. There are others out there that will eat paint, look closely at the can to make sure. Blaze, a safety wire tool can be your friend, just make a loop around the pin in its groove and twist the wire up. Then of course find the proper circlip to hold it in place.

I was riding with my brother a couple of years ago when we stopped for gas and mine gave out just like that. I was 45 miles from home. There was a small piece of metal lying on the ground at the gas station, I folded it in half, pushed it in between the pins and it's still there today. I may get around to looking at it sometime but there's bigger fish to fry at this point.

So I had a good look at the switch and it has been disabled. Tested it and it doesn't work. The work was done neatly so I will leave it alone, or not. Thinking to remove the switch when I find the right ring clip for the side stand. No point in having it on the bike if it doesn't work, right?
