So I had the forks of to change the fork oil and I ran into an issue. The manual says to turn the adjuster screw clockwise until it stops, then turn it counter clockwise 5/8 turn until the dots align. My issue is that one of the adjuster screws turns until it is below the top of the fork, the other side stops well above. When I turn them counter clockwise until the dots align the two sides are not even close to even. Is there something wrong with either fork, or is it me(quite possible)? This may be hard to follow so I posted pictures of what I'm trying to explain.

Here's my guess, assuming that your forks are similar to the forks in my 2000 M2:

There's a portion of the fork at the top end where the rebound adjuster screw assembly attaches to the damper cartridge. This assembly threads onto the cartridge, and is lock-nutted in place on the damper rod. It sounds like yours was taken apart, then not reset properly.

BTW, pictures dont show up.

I took them apart again this afternoon. You were right Benm, the lock nut was not set properly and it threw everything off. So I'd say that was a good guess. Good diagnosis without even seeing the pictures. Thanks, its all good now.
