DO NOT buy the cheap carbon crap from MDI carbon fiber on ebay. I dropped $150 on a rear hugger, and got it today. It in NO WAY fits at all. Not without rubbing on the tire anyway. It can not be shimmed enough to be made to work in any fashion. The part itself is visibly twisted and warped.

So, I'm sure they'll refund me and all, but I'll eat it on the shipping. I consider this a fee for a lesson learned.

I already ordered the correct piece from Al at American Sport Bike, which I am sure will fit with precision and be of vastly superior quality. It's only right anyway, being an America bike and all. I don't know what I was thinking.

If it sounds too good to be true...

LOL I bought a little accent for my XB from them, waited OVER A MONTH and never got the part. I told them twice if it was shipped during this month, and he always apologized telling me that it was gonna be done first thing the morning after. result: it was never done!
so he refund me, apologizing, and told me that he was gonna send me the article anyway for free. result: never got it!!! LOL
after this, I will definitely never do anymore business with them...

The pisser is that I spent an hour tracking down the proper threaded grommets from the dealer, and the bolts from the hardware store, then another hour installing, trying to fit it, and eventually uninstalling.

I have bought much knock off CF and real stuff from MDI and East carbon, Here is my experience
1. east carbon has better stuff but i got damaged stuff from them but the owner susan is great to deal with, She never leaves you hanging
2.MDI-What a bunch of fools i got a dash cover from them that is really nice....So i went to buy another item and i bought the tank accents, So i get an e-mail from them saying they accidentally shipped my item to somebody else and it is going to be 3 weeks for another and they offered me $12 to let them hold the money and get me a new one. So i e-mailed them stating i wanted all my money back and was giving bad feedback and filing a complaint with paypal. They gave my money back in record time!!

The real stuff is by far so much better lighter and has a much bigger weave to it.

I bought a dash cover piece from east carbon, it fit fine and arrived in 4-5 days directly from china. I have the American Sport Bike tank accents on my bike. They are visibly nicer. Larger weave, no imperfections in the finish, etc...

The American Sport Bike Rear hugger arrived today, and is already installed. Night and day with the knock off part. The asb unit fit perfectly, is light as a feather, and looks amazing. The MDI piece, not so much.

The American Sport Bike fender is worth every penny!

Also, my hugger is the newer style with a shorter and rounded belt guard. It looks ace.

I got the tank trim from East Carbon and am very happy with it. It was NOT true carbon fiber. May be just to top layer. For the cost even if it does fade/haze up I can still paint it and still be cheaper than buying a fiberglass one. I wouldn't buy a tank or fender or anything large from them thou.

Low - Yeah, get some pics up!
