The bike looks great.
As for the Race ECM, in my experience, it really does not make the bike "faster" but makes the throttle response more linear and gets rid of dips in the torque curve.
Besides, you don't need to buy a Race ECM. All you need is to load the "Race" fuel maps onto your stock ECM using ECMSPY. That's what I did and the difference was indeed noticeable. Let me know and I can send you the files for the Race maps.

I've seen the spy cables for sale on eBay and I did some reading on reprogramming the ECM with a laptop but it was a little intimidating since I'm not familiar with this stuff. It just seemed to me it would be easier (albeit it more expensive) to pop a race ECM inplace of the stock one and be done with it.

Mcdusa1- I assume you mean the Tank Bra. If so then just keep watching the "parts for sale" thread in this forum (and place a thread in the "parts wanted" section) and watch eBay. That's what I did for my X1 tank bra and now I have the one on the bike (like new) and another one new in the box. Just be patient and check these forums frequently as it seems there are those that must spend all their waking hours watching for stuff because you will start to recognize the names (including mine) showing up alot. Good luck and happy hunting.

Jim - ECM Spy is easy to work with. I admit it is intimidating at first but just like everything, you will get more comfortable after using it a few time. The Race ECM is the same ECM as the stock except for the program in it. It takes less than 5min to save the stock program and upload the race program. You will also need to reset the TPS and AVF, so the cost of a cable would be cheaper than taking it to the dealer. I have a copy of the Race ECM saved on file and can forward it to you for free. If you do decide to give ECM Spy a try I would be more than willing to give you any help needed. I use the ECM Spy as a cost savings tool. The only one who works on my X1 is me, and any tools that keeps the dealers hands off the better.

Ok, it's done. I bought an ECM cable on eBay so I guess I'll give it a try. If you could PM me that copy of the Race ECM I would appreciate it. I'll get the cable in a few days and see what I can do. Is there a specific program I need to download or will that come with the cable?

Jim - I can't send attachments via PM here. Send me your email addy to tdman77@hotmail.com and I will send you the race eeprom.

ECM Spy is free. Just download it here: www.ecmspy.com You will also need to download the drivers for the cable here:http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/VCP.htm

Make sure the read, and reread the tuning guide also at www.ecmspy.com. The first thing you need to do when you hook up to your bike is to save the stock eeprom to a safe location. If you want PM me when you are ready to use ECM Spy and I'll send you my phone #. I'll walk you thru the steps on loading the race eeprom and also how to reset the TSP/AFV.

The other thing that I dont think the manual tells you, or maybe it does and I missed it, is you gotta click on the little set of keys icon to establish contact with the bike's data port. In other words, to be able to sue the software at all. That took me a WHILE to figure out for some reason. I was cursing up and down.

You'll see what I mean when you install it.

I'm no expert at all, I've used it only a few times, but if you need any help, shoot me an email and I'll give you my cell phone number for tech support.

It's worth $50 just to reset the TPS once, or reset and view a trouble code. OH, and to watch the little virtual tach go up and down as you rev the bike. That's hours of fun.
