While being over loaded at work (I did not come in Friday due to snow), I cannot help to think about getting on the bike and just taking off, I took a break to surf the web and want to do what this guy did!

That was shot in the parking area under the veranda of the Hilton in Phoenix.

If you want to have some fun . . . check out the temperatures on the 31 days I was riding.

The next day I rode to San Diego and met Erik and Steve Anderson for breakfast. It was an exciting day. I tool the Buell to Mt. Palomar to give "demo rides" to folks who had never seen a Buell.

Erik headed over the hotel to shake the world up by introducing a fun new bike called the S-1 Lightning.

It was a lot of fun. On a single trip, with nearly every day over 100oF, I got to take a Buell to many fabulous places for the first time a Buell had ever been there.

I still have the laminated map with the "write on" marker route map on it. I also have, buried somewhere in a 14 year old lap top, the stories I wrote each day about my adventures and the folks I met.

I stopped at 10:00 CDT on M-W-F and did a short "Live from aboard a Buell" radio call in deal on a Topeka radio station.

It was pretty much 31 days of wandering aimlessly, waking up each morning and deciding where to go . . . 37 states later I ended back in East Troy where I started.

The guy who started the deal, by calling the Buell "sweepings off the Harley factory floor" never showed on his Honda to accept my $10,000 bet. I made the trip touching nothing but fuel, oil and tires.

Fun stuff.

Now, THAT sounds like the next book! (I have a hunch there's more than 2 or 3 photos that go along with the stories...)

I always though you started in KS but I guess you would have to go from KS to East Troy to meet the Honda guy as the official start. The sad thing is the Honda, any Honda of that time, was more than capable to making that trip as well. I have a feeling the limiting factor was the rider not the bike.

That is one of my favorite Buell adventures and I never get tired of hearing about it. I am glad it was included in the book.
