Hmmm, been wanting a truck but browsing the on-line classifieds makes me itch for a pure "go stupid fast" sort of bike to join my M2 in the garage, I think it's getting lonely.

Check out this sweet deal:

here's one of the pics

That is a really nice bike. I tend to like Ninjas over the other Japanese I-4s as well. His asking price seems to be pretty good too. In the Philly area, I see bikes like that on Craigslist go for well over $7000.

A buddy of mine has one like it (in red) and I rode it a couple of times. A bit too cocky for my taste. It felt too much like a loaded gun...even compared to my X1. Treat it with a lot of respect or you get burned in a blink of an eye. But of course that applies to any two wheeler.

ya thats just my opinion, and only because i have rode them all. something always brings me back to the twins. the power on that bike is only really usuable on the highway. the twins have that low end grunt anytime you twist it.

Limited,

Thanks and yeah to both your comments. Flame suit is on, twin cylinder grunt, yup. That's the sort of advice/opinion I'm looking for really. (Closed minded "Jap bikes suk" and "IL4's suk" will be filtered out pretty easily) I think my M2 will always be my favorite.

Having taught rider ed I have ridden many bikes, unfortunately most of them were 250's or so. My brother had several CBR 600's which always left me disappointed, having to spin up to +7G's for power? No thanks.

Been considering a Uly locally (dig the versatility), but it's $1700 more than this bike and I'd have to get a new seat for it... So the choice had been bike vs. truck and the truck was way ahead until I saw this ad.

Muds,

Also good info, thanks.

Loved,

That is my opinion as well, but I welcome the opinions and experience of my brothers here which is why I posted this.

K,

In what way is the bike cocky?

I Love Motorbikes! Who cares what the name is on the fuel tank (or airbox cover)

Nice looking bike and I bet a complete hoot to ride.

I sat on a new one at the Chicago IMS. It just felt right. Nice-looking, too, thought I'd prefer shiny wheels.

I really can't get past those silly googley headlights on the R's (really, ever seen a runway model with buck-teeth? So out of place - those lights bug me).

...and the S feels like a odd cross between my mountain bike and what I'm on now... the TT is a blast to ride, but is not far enough removed from the sort of riding the m2 is used for.

...somewhere I've got a picture of me dragging a knee on a 12R at the track...

anyway my next bike needs to be very different than what I'm on now, else there's not much point in it for me, I can only ride one bike at a time.

Short list is Uly, ST1300, DR-Z (this would be used much as the m2 so only an amazing deal would do it, but it's on the list) and maybe/probably a REALLY neat repli-racer such as the bike that started this; and a four door Dodge Dakota.

Beemer's are a consideration but there are so many to choose from.

Sigh... my short list isn't very short.

Hey mike
Go with the Kawasaki you will love it, My first bad street bike was a ninja 600. Back in 1991 i was riding 2up with a buddy on my first street legal bike a Suzuki gs450 and this guy came around the corner and had his bike at the power band just waiting to rip and he ripped past us and i remember saying im going to get that same bike. Also i remember the sound it made and all the shit he flipped up like dust and crap as he took off. I loved that ninja it had electric controlled front suspension you could set it and forget it and it had a cool florescent green dash and tach. Nobody in high school had a bike like that. I had the whole school starring at me when i was 17, See i had 2 jobs in high school and lived on my own. BRAND does not matter as i have owned Kawasaki,Honda,Suzuki, I don't care much for Yamaha never even wanted ride one, I have ridden a few bulltacos?? when i was a kid.

I always wanted a 600cc 2 stroke street bike

I was going to buy another Honda enduro like a 350 for the size or the Kawasaki klr650 i always liked that bike too.

I like the fact that i can ride up and down stairs on the enduro's and do crazy wheelies in and out of driveway dips and jumping of stuff, No high flying motocross stuff just urban stuff and off road stuff

I know it's Buell board and all but it's your money, your garage and your want; I'd say fill it. I don't foresee me getting rid of the Buell but as of right now if I could afford another bike it would be the Rocket III all loaded up with the hard bags. I just like the way it looks, kinda odd and different, and you don't see too many of them...kinda like the Buell.

I keep my S3 company with my 08 FJR -- I think it's great looking -- although not as pleasing as the Buell. Its a great tourer but very agile in the twisties. Extremely fast and yet comfortable. Rock solid dependable -- but when I want to get the real smile on my face I take the Buell out -- }

May be cocky is a poor choice of word. Somehow the throttle response and the overall behavior seemed "nervous" and not quite as controlled as m X1. I find myself too tense on those hi-revving in-line fours. But I also consider myself a novice so YMMV.

Thanks for all the input, so much to consider...

The ad got pulled, I wonder if he decided to up the price, or maybe sold it already.

Brokeneck, can't believe I forgot the FJR! I was just hung up on how the R1 doesn't really interest me, funny huh?

I've owned or ridden just about every type of bike out there. For me the Buell is the kind of bike I settled on after playing he field a while because it had traits form many types of bikes. But it's more of a Jack of all trades not a master of any. Truth be told if I had the Money Id have at least one of every type of bike in the garage. A liter class sportbike would probably be the last to be purchased but it would be there.

Yeah, I'd like one of each too, dream garage would have all the bike's I listed above plus a 1125CR I like it like I liked the S1W mine looks like now.

Plus a could dirt bikes, too bad Cannondales aren't still around. And a Speed or Street Triple.

Maybe even have a cruiser in the bunch, but that's fairly unlikely

those zx-10r's are a bit flimsy in the turns, might i suggest a dampener....

But yeah, after riding several of them I would say they are an absolute hoot to ride.

Want a litre bike? Buy my daytona 955i!! Hehe....

I am selling it very soon, I want to get back to stunting.

But yeah, if you want it buy it. But check insurance quotes before you buy it. Full coverage on those are a BISH!

Like you I was wanting something different from the "nakeds" I already have and the 1125r fit the bill for hypersportstouring(just back from 2k around La.)two-up traveling/ long straights track day bike and just a great all around nutter bike. There's some crazy deals out there right now on some.

I have a Suzuki Bandit 1200 to complement my Buells.

A big fast Japanese inline four can be lots of fun and it takes the pressure off my Buells so they don't get the abuse that they might receive if I didn't have the Bandit for that sort of riding.

You could do a lot worse when choosing a hyperbike than the Kawi. I rode a friend's and it is a holy terror...it grumbles and frets and generally don't at all like to be putzed around town on...but if you have some free range to let 'er rip....just be careful.

This spring I traded my M2 off and got a Honda 600. I really like how smooth everything is on the Honda and it's reliability, but honestly I had more fun on the M2. I swore I would never get an inline 4 but I got sick of tightening and replacing things on the Buell so I just went with it and am happy though.

...maybe I'll just buy a GS500, there's a clean '97 been for sale for a couple months now and the wife could ride that one without being too much intimidated by it.... had one as a starter bike and it held up well, springs and a K&N make it fun in the canyon too...

...sure are a lot of X1's for sale (at awesome prices) right now
