Hi! I have a 2001 X1, the light kicks on when i first turn on the ignition, then it kicks off before i start it like it should, then once it's started it kicks back on and won't turn off. Just curious if anyone knows what the prob could be, it just started happening a few weeks ago!? By the way, the bike runs great. No stalling or any problems.
Thanks
Justin

???

the red light or the amber light?

amber - low fuel light
red - kinda like a check engine light.

if its the red light, you bikes ECM is throwing a code, trying to tell you something is up.

even though your bike runs great, just to be safe, I would get that checked beofre riding much longer... if thats the light you're talkin bout.

It's red. It's the one that comes on and turns off when you first turn on the ignition. Then after it's started it just stays on. I guess I'll ride it to the shop and have it checked out. i was just curious cause the closet shop is like an hour and a half.

That light is also the check engine light. See here:

I would NOT ride the bike till the codes are check.

in the FSM (factory service manual) there is a procedure to check codes with out an expensive scanner. its like some moris code thingy.

when i get home from class i'll see if I can find a copy to post up here... or use the google search at the top of the main page to see if you can find another thread where someone posted how to check. : D

A Trouble Code Tool would be handy.

These work for all FI Buells up to '07
