Thanks to all your help and information over the last week, I took the plunge. 2000 X1, 6800 miles. Spotless. Banke billet shifter, AMS carbon tank inserts, joker billet mirrors, race ECM, very clean fender mod. $3900 with a Shoei Helmet, buell bike cover, the owner and service manual. I've already ordered a carbon rear tire hugger and a catch can. <img> |

I should mention that thanks to you guys, I knew enough to check out the front iso (looks good) and things like that. It's nice to know what you're talking about, or at least be able to pretend you do, when purchasing something like this. Now the real fun begins...buying other stuff and doing the upgrades. First up, the chain tensioner and exhaust bracket. Then the oil pump gear. FOund the build date as July 1999. Looks like I need to get at that tensioner. Lowroad, that looks a lot like a X1 that was for sale in Colorado Springs. Is that the one? BTW: If you came all the way up here to get it and did not say anything I will be pissed. Nice looking Bike! Frank |

You might have an updated primary tensioner already. I'll post a pic of the new one in the box and you can compare it to what's in there. (If the factory put it in there, you've got the older rear shock so who knows...) I bought one for my 2000 M2 a few years ago - assuming it needed it and found a new one in there already. It's been around 17K miles since and I'm gonna put the new one in soon. |

I wasn't crazy about the blue initially, from the pictures. When the guy opened the garage door I had to stifle my excitement. I am TOTALLY in love with this particular shade of blue. So, should I just invest in a new primary cover gasket and pop the cover off to have a peek at the tensioner? (Message edited by lowroad on April 11, 2009) |

Frank, I guess it might be the same one. It was located in denver, but may very well have been listed on the colorado springs craigslist too. It's still got the dealer sticker on the frame. Colorado springs harley. I live in Albuquerque, but my girlfriend has family in Denver that she was anxious to see, so it all worked out beautifully. |

I'm at work now but I'll post a photo in the morning. You probably should have a gasket handy, I think the new metal ones are reusable so you might get lucky there too, if your bike has a new gasket. Put some sort of synthetic fluid instead of sport trans in there and you will notice improved shifting. Syn 3 works if you're getting stuff from HD, can't recall for sure but I believe that Royal Purple is okay too. Or ride with sport trans for a while - then when you think it's time to spend some money on high end accessories 'cause your bike's not quite as cool as the day you bought it - change your tranny fluid to synth and you'll be happy again, for a while... ... ...until you start thinking about replacing that pipe instead of repacking it... ... ... ...or maybe a high zoot shock instead of a rebuild... ... ... ...yeah, it's kind of like that... |

Yeah, this aint my first rodeo. I am one of those addictive personalities, so this is most likely going to get out of hand quickly. |

I am one of those addictive personalities I know the feeling. Next time you are heading up to Denver give me a heads up. If you take the Interstate up you will be close to my house. Also check out Santa Fe HD, and ask about the NM Buell group or check out the Storm Fronts section of this site. My GF and I go to NM a couple of times a year. I have been doing the Red River rally since the early 90s and although it is not as fun as it used to be (got too big) we still try to make it down to that area at least once a year. The NM guys have a Buell rally in Aug and in years past it has been in Taos but they might change to a different location this year. Frank |

Frank, Well you are welcome to crash and/or use the garage when in NM. Next time I come through here, I'll give a shout. }I'll look into the storm front page for sure. We got a big ole HD dealer in Albuquerque. Much bigger than Santa Fe actually. |

Welcome to the group. Nice bike. One other thing you should consider is getting the ECMSPY software and the cable. You probably already know about it if you have been lurking here for awhile. Enjoy. |

FYI, to see if any recalls need to be done, call Buell Customer Service at 1-414-343-8400 and have them run the VIN to see what has/has not been completed. Or you can go to a Dealer and they can do it. Also, be sure to go to www.buell.com and create a profile, register the VIN on there to get on the mailing list for FUELL...the free mag from Buell! I can't wait for the next issue, I bet Eslick's on the cover! |
