I found that you can get a bulb that fits at the auto parts store but the wattage will be too high.
I suggest going to a H-D dealer.
I think they use the same bulb in big twins.

Mine went out a few months ago. If I recall it's a 1227, 0.7W (?).

As posted not available at your local hardware stores. Need to be ordered through dealers.

Considering how infrequently they need replacement it's no surprise that it's a dealer only part.

I was however surprised to find that it was in stock in Iowa!
I was further surprised to find that the old bulb was fine but the clippy things had shifted to interrupt the power.
