I just got a Vance & Hines muffler for my '00 X1. I went and tried to mount it today and I think I'm missing something. I have the Z-type bracket but heard that wasn't needed so I took it off now I'm stumped. Is there another bracket that I should have or what?

Yes it is the rear bracket and I figured out the one that I need. Where would I find one? I have another question. The header that I have now doesn't have a spot for the O2 sensor. Whats the best solution?

i would have no idea where to find one. either call V&H or go to you local dealer to see if they can get it through V&H (if they are willing to help).

you can either weld an O2 threaded bung on it (avalible through many online and local high performance auto parts dealers) or see if you can find one here in the classified section or ebay, swap em out, and then sell your old one to make up for cost.

thats my .02 : )

If you find a header to buy, I'll buy your non-02 header.......

The exhaust should have included the rear bracket if you bought it new. Call V&H and they will send you one.

I am going to be buying flanges for my pipe soon. The ends of my pipe are flared out a little bit at the end,is there any difficulty putting those on the or do they just slide on? I am kind of confused for some reason

'52:

the head pipes have a spring ring that goes around the pipe end beyond the bulge. the mounting flange catches that ring which catched the bulge in the pipe

the flanges have a depression in the back and the spring ring fits into it

check the condition of the gaskets in the head while you are at it...

Ok that helps, but are the flang holes big enough to slide over bulge?

Yes, once you remove the retaining rings.

If you replace the exhaust gaskets get the Screaming Eagle ones, stock ones are a pain.
