I do not think you can get Sikkens paint anymore but below is the info from Buell. You will have to find someone that can match the paint. Any good painter can do that. I assume you are going to paint one set the original color and the other HD colors?

The 1996 S2-T is becoming a rare breed. Only 429 were sold in the US. I am partial to the Quicksilver S2-Ts myself.

This information is per BMC specifications.
1995-1996
Black Sapphire
1. Spray 3 coats Sikkens 400 Black Base.
2. Mix 27 grams of House of Color PP5 Prism Pearl Blue with on full liter of Sikkens
666 Binder. Spray 3 coats.
3. Spray 3 coats Sikkens Autoclear.

Production paint for these years was supplied by
Sikkens. The following formulas should allow a
Sikkens dealer to mix paint that will match the Buell
factory color.

thanks frank, I seen your photo of your buell room. one of the reasons that I picked up the S2 was from you and court and the info you have on the bike, and could not see the bike being parted out. One of these years it will be out for an S2 round up, until then I will seen some pics of the rebuild.

Darren, I look forward to seeing the pics. If you want to send your information for the S2-T to me for the list use my email f_skinner@yahoo.com

I will need VIN, Build Date (from the documentation or neck of the frame) and if you got the signature series documentation for the bike or not.

I have a feeling that the S2 Gathering will be held at different locations each year so hopefully you will be able to make one or all of them.

It will be great to see a thread with a build of a S2.

The original House of Kolor pearl PP5 has been discontinued which I think was the real magic ingredient to the color. I sent House of Kolor an email asking if they had a replacement for Prism Pearl Blue color and didn't get a response. From looking on their website they do have some newer pearls that would I think create an equally beautiful color on the bike.

Ya I found Sikkens dealer In Louisvill,KY called Akzo Nobel Coating. nice chat with a tech but did have much info on Buell colors. I also e-mailed House of Kolors no word back. the tech at Nobel Coatings thinks the color codes where sold to GM Saturn but was not a 100% on that.

Interesting Darren. Are you going to paint it yourself. I have been toying around with the idea of learning how to paint. I have no clue at this point and could not even guess all the equipment I would need.

If you are going to have someone paint them you might want to check for a local Corvette restoration shop.

Time to look into what the community college offers as far as paint courses.

Frank, I bought this book to start getting a knowledge base.

http://www.amazon.com/Paint-Your-Motorcycle-Motorbooks-Workshop/dp/0760320780/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1238551136&sr=8-1

She (the arthur) has a lot of good common sense advice. The paint manufactures have spec sheets on their products too, on application recommendations for their product. Take a look at House of Kolors site. They are a Valspar company. By the way Akzo is the largest paint company in the world. I deal with them a little on our paint at work, but it's all roll coated coil steel.

I ordered the book. I can always have Lynn read it to me while I look at the pictures!

Is that paint a match for the original color or are you going with a different color?

Loren, how did you determine what color would match? I took a look at the HOK web site but did not look at it in depth.

The Buell Quicksilver Metallic is a very close match to Maserati Silver. I am going to try and paint my deep bags as my first project.

Frank, it's the original Pearl color and what I feel is the main ingredient to Black Sapphire. The rest of the mix is black and clears, which I think will be easy enough to copy from current paint products. The bike has a few of chips in the paint and I have a pair of lower fairing that need painted to match the Black Sapphire. I want to give painting a shot on a second set of body work and leave the original untouched for now.

The Prism Pearl Blue is discontinued by HOK. I spent some time on google and found some on a shelf at a paint supplier.

I meant to ask earlier, and apparently now it's a little late for me, but has anyone seen the color code for the black around the license plate area?
