Im tearing down the intake on my 97 m2 since it has a intake leak, and im to the point where i remove the 4 bolts holding the thing on, how do i get them out? Do i have to cut down a tool? I have some t handled torx drivers and a set of socket torx bits.

Thanks

The intake should be allen bolts. You will have to cut down the short end of a 1/4" allen wrench in order to get in there, or American Sportbike sells a tool that has the correct bend in it and a ball end on one side that is made just for removing the intake bolts

I use a cut down allen wrench, but with your's, I have not a clue. I bet there's a tool for that, LOL

Before you get things tore apart scribe a witness mark at the junction of the intake manifold/flanges.
Makes it much easier for carb/throttle body/ air cleaner alignment on reassembly.

Thanks for the tips, i have 3 of the bolts out, just need to get another allen wrench to cut down,

looked at them and realized someone had switched them out previously. GREAT SUCCESS!

My 2002 x1 has 1/4" allens on the right side and 1/2" hex on the left side. I don't know if it's factory, but the angle from the left side is pefrectly fine for removing the hex bolts and its nice to know that I can only round out 2 of the 4 fasteners : )
