Mine's the same status except for the front end. I haven't taken forks or the front wheel off - no way to hang it from the ceiling and no creativity to think of another method.

I found out Monday that the guy polishing my cases.. who has had them for the past 6 WEEKS.. hadn't touched them yet. So they're at another polisher now and will hopefully be done when I get back from Missouri next week.

BTW - I thought you were changing swingarm and steering head bearings.. looking at your current level of DISassembly I'm guessing it has turned into much more!

and if you decide you want X1 cams along with that 1250 kit just let me know.. I've got the top end off of my 2000. It wouldn't take long to pop the cams out and have them in the mail.

Ouch. I just got back from the hardware store.. Don't start heading down the chrome road unless you want to go broke fast. It cost me $35 just to get 5 bolts and washers for the rear sprocket.

Get stainless fasteners and polish them. It's a bit of a PIA but you won't be disappointed

Yes, I didn't have time to put things away. What you can't see, is the table to the left with all the parts in baggies, labeled. Everything on the floor is pretty much just wrenches, I don't have a workbench since pops makes me keep the bike with the lawnmowers (yes, it's dirty). Got the motor out in maybe 4 hours time (from the first pic to the last.

If anyone was watching, it would have been one hilarious site to see. Notice the frame hanging...Yeah, doing this by yourself is not recommended.

I'm doing this for not particular reason right now, except for cleaning, and to say I can do it...For now that is.

Phil,
I don't know what I'm doing right now...

How much was it for the polisher again? I don't know how to find one around here. I'm thinking of doing the swingarm, and some other stuff.

I am probably going to do the swingarm bearings now that I'm that far. I was lacking motivation, and good weather came and I'm working again.

It started as front motor mount/rear iso replacement. Changing oil hoses (which I still have no idea what I could possibly use as replacements, wouldn't mind some stainless ones). Oh, and I needed new tires too! LOL

And hoping it's just a pushrod seal, but if I may pull the jugs off and replace the seals there. I may not be riding this summer, but that's ok, I wanna make everything good on this rebuild.

I'm hoping to possibly get a set of heads, and have them polished by a guy around here.

Like I said, I'm pretty broke right now, but hoping to sell some of my stuff to buy motor parts.

Check this place out for stainless oil lines:

http://kcint.zoovy.com/

Polishing was $675 for the swingarm, mounting block, rocker box covers, 4 footpegs, shift linkage, brake lever, and random other small stuff. The same place did my subframe a couple months ago for $125.

The cases I'm planning on being in the neighborhood of $800 but hopefully lower.

I'm pretty broke right now Brin, if you bought a Uly you would know what broke is. I have less than 1000 miles on mine and have added at least 1000 dollars in stuff I don't need. LOL

These bikes come apart pretty easy, its getting them back together that is the tricky part. Take your time and read the service manual before you do anything, not after you do it like I do.

My S1W is down right now and the S2-T is going on the lift to replace isolators and other service. I have to do a carb adjustment to the S2 so all I have is the Uly. So you need FOUR bikes I think.

Sounds like we all just need a tuber to work on and an XB to ride!

Sure seems that way sometimes. To tell you the truth the Uly is a fine bike. Given a choice I will choose the S2-T everytime.

The key to owning and riding a tuber, which you well know, is preventative maintenance. Or you can do the Brin method which I am guilty of as well.

One time I went to replace the head gaskets on a stock Sporty and ended up with a 89 inch drag bike.

Nutz, be thankful your Pop allows you to keep your Buell treasures under his roof till you get it back together.

Back in the late '60s early '70s my dad threatened more than once he was going to lock my brother and myself out of the garage.

Looking back I can't say as I would have blamed him.

Sure beats working under a tarp in the rain with a flashlight.

I feel ya man, mine should be in that state pretty soon. I don't have all the spare parts you have (yet), but I DID make a deal for some X1 cases. Maybe if I have enough time, 'til I can find the parts I need, I'll polish them out. I dunno yet; I'm still trying to figure out the color combo I want for the motor (and the rest of the bike for that matter).
