Let us know how they stick in the corners, or even if they do. LOL jk |

make sure you scrub them down with something, i use simple green and a scotch brite scouring pad, to get all the mold release off first. then ride easy for awhile to scrub them in good before laying it over at speed. |

I have those tires on my M2 right now...not a bad tire. I dont think I'd take them to the track though. Wear seems to be pretty decent but I have spun the rear tire once under hard acceleration. Not much though, probably about 1/2 to 3/4 of a roatation. I paid 75 a peice for mine. |

I'm afraid of cheap tires on a bike that I will be asking alot of performance from. I have Carlisle's on my utility quad but I'm not driving it over 100mph either. I figure that the tire is my only connection to the pavement |

Butch, I have those on my 12R, S3T, and S2. They are a good tire for the price. The S3T seems to be very happen with them, and the 12R is well....tolerannt of them. I feel like it was more stable with Michelin Pilot Roads. I replaced the oem Dunlops on the S3T with the Shinko's so I just don't know any different on it. I'm happy enough with the price / performance that I bought a set to put on my new S2. It's still sitting on the stands waiting on some other parts so I don't have any feedback on it, but don't expect anything different than the S3T. The 12R has the most miles on them and I think they are wearing as well as the Pilot Roads I have used in the past. |

I have Shinko 009 Ravens on my Suzuki Bandit 1200 (big heavy bike with lots of power) and they are holding up well. Traction in wet and dry is equal to or better than the Michelins I ran before these. I would consider them on my Buell S3T if long wear was the top priority but for twisty back roads or track days, I probably would go with a 005 which is stickier but not as long wearing. Either way, a good tire for a low price. |

That tire is a cheap a#$ Chinese tire. I wouldn't touch that with a 10' pole. "Traction in wet and dry is equal to or better than the Michelin's I ran before these" Yeah right, You can't compare a no name brand against proven quality tire and major brand!! |

Using your reasoning Preybird, that means that no one should/would be given a chance to prove themselves. I'm not defending anyone here, I'm just stating a fact. =) |

Russ, Actually they are a Japanese company and the tires are produced South Korean. Reference www.shinkotireusa.com/about.php Maybe you can share your direct experiences riding on Shinko's I am a Michelin fan. I run them on my truck, and ran them on my 12R for nearing 40K miles. Their prices just became to much for me last summer when gas was over $4 / gallon, the girls needed braces and I was looking for ways to stretch my hard earn dollars. My bikes are used for commuting and sport touring. The Shinko 009 Ravens meet my requirements for those uses. |

"That tire is a cheap a#$ Chinese tire. I wouldn't touch that with a 10' pole" Sorry to be the one to give you the bad news but it is almost impossible these days to buy anything that is not made in China...Check the labels... |

It could save you some money. The problem I would have is as the tach winds past 5K in 5th, are these tires up to the task I'm risking my life for? After you pay mounting and balancing and weigh in no local support, what is the real savings. |

I mount and balance my own tires...Another big savings. I have always bought tires online, so "local support" was never an issue. Real savings...about $85 at todays prices for a set of tires. I know it may not be much, but it's nearly cost of another Shinko rear tire. "as the tach winds past 5K in 5th, are these tires up to the task I'm risking my life for?" Oh come on!! Ride like a jackass and you die or get seriously hurt regardless of what tires you are on. IMHO spend as much money on whatever brand of tires you want. Live and breath whatever your favorite brand...have them flowing through your veins. More power to you. |

From personal experience on the Shinko 003's, they are not a 'bad' tire. IMO, they are not a 'great' tire either. From a cost/functionality perspective, Shinko's appear to be fine for commuting, IMO. For track use, I'll spring for the extra $$$ to put better tires on that I'm more comfortable with. But again, if I can afford trackdays, price of tires isn't an issue. For those looking for really good deals on tires, check out the tire vendor(s) at your local trackdays & races. Some great deals can be had there in my experience, on 'name brand' tires no less. |

I read about them from fellow Bandit 1200 and Hayabusa owners who spend a lot of money on replacing tires, especially rear tires, and they said they liked them so I decided to try some for myself. So far, I like them too and, when I am on the bike, I can't see the "made in Korea" on the sidewall. My philosophy is: Do some research, ask others, think about it, do what seems to makes sense. If I don't like it, I don't do it again. If it works, I stay with it. |

Too soon to tell. So far they seem like a good tire, but I won't be sure until I see how long they last and how they perform when worn. Also, when replacement time comes, I'll see what else might be available before deciding but it is quite possible that I will get another set of Shinkos. |

Keep us posted. I would be happy to be proven wrong but I ask a lot of my Pilot Powers and them seem to provide good service. The center of the rear tire is flat and ready for replacement but that is after 7K miles. The front is in great shape. I consider that great life from a Sport tire. If the Shinko is comparable then that money can go into other Buell goodies or extra rawhides for the furry kids |

I've ran Shinko's Stealths since before they were getting advertised and better known. They were great on the S-1 for track days and fast back roads. In a pinch last year I threw them on my "25r" for an Inside Pass day. And even though they were and older set that sat for about 8 mos. and a little bit crusty they held up fine for the day. The inspector saw them and asked "what the hell are those" and I told him and his reply "better you than me". I like the oem tire on the "25r" better ,but for the tubers Shinkos and Avons are a great tire for the money. The first sets of Shinkos got about 5k and the Avons I have gotten as much as 7k on the rear.

Tires are what keep your bike connected to the road. You wanna be cheap about it, that's your perogative. But that's just my opinion and others might be inclined to disagree. Your results may vary. |

Actually, I think what's between my ears is what keeps my bike connected to the road, well that and gravity. Your results may varies depending on how much air is between your ears versus gray matter. |

Fitted up a fresh set of Shinko 009's last spring just before a trip to Americade. I was in a $$ crunch and went for it. They are a Korean company that bought out Yokahama's Motorcycle tire biz. They held up very well and give a great ride. Only complaint is wet grip but Tread life has been excellent. Keep in mind the 009 is their Sort Touring tire and it uses harder compounds. the 005 or 003 is a much softer sticker tire. About to dig the bike out from Winter storage the Shinko's are still looking good long after the stock Dunlops they replaced were trash. For the money these things are great. |

I have the 009's on my bike and I love them they are not as good as some of the expensive brands but they wear good and are decent in the corners. I would not take them to the track like has been said before but I dont ride on the track. |

Does anyone have an update on the Shinko tires? I'm going to have to get some new tires. I'm not hard on tires,, but I do want some decent tires and don't want to spend a fortune. |

I'm about to get another set for my other S-1 since it'll be an everyday hack/occasional stunter that I'm not gonna worry so much about the looks (so I say know). Did I mention that the first track day I did on the Shinko Stealths was a 40 degree day. After no oh shit moments on those tires in that cold of weather I was a believer. |
