Anyone know if an S&S 100" engine will fit in a tuber. I read somewhere it will. I've seen 88 inchers and they haul ass, I think the 100" engine is about 3/8" taller than stock, could be made to have 150HP ( all motor ) | ||

An 88 or 90" motor can be made to run those kind of numbers too, but you have to get a bit exotic. You have to get a little exotic with the 100" to make that kind of power though, too. I personally would rather build an exotic 90" and keep the short stroke myself, plus the 100" motor in a tuber is marginal fit at best. Aaron at NRHS had to do something with the isolators/mounts IIRC to get his 100" bonne motor to fit in the S2 frame. The good news? If you ever did want to put a taller motor in a tuber, the S2 would be the easiest do so, because you could just machine some taller sideplates so that the isolators rest lower to accomodate the extra height. | ||

Does anyone on this site have a 88" or 90" motor in a tuber? I have one in an XL it stomps, ( 116rwhp, 105 ft lbs) Wonder how wheelie prone one would be in a Buell? (shorter wheelbase). | ||

The 100" fits fine in a tuber. I work for S&S and have had a 91" (4" bore x 3.625" stroke) in my X1. S&S had a S1 with a 100. I have a 100 with B1 heads in my X1 bonneville bike. The 100 comes with the top and front engine mount it takes to make the engine fit. The engine is .200" taller than stock. An out of the box 100 makes about 110 hp and 110 ft-lbs. The big difference over the other 88 or 90 engines is the low end torque. The 100 makes over 90 ft lbs at 2000 rpm. My 100 with race heads on it makes 140 at the rear wheel. I know others out there are making more. S&S also has an 89" kit that is .430" taller than stock that fits in stock cases (3-5/8 bore). This is a tight squeze, but people have done it. 1999 and later frames are a little easier to fit the big engines in because the frame isn't as narrow around the rear rocker box. Jeff | ||

Thank Jeff, so it'll fit pretty good huh? Well then with max effort heads you could have 160rwhp, that would be a monster.............. |
